Whatever company youre with!!

I just got home from a 36 day trip and 18,000 miles. Funny, because every terminal I went to, there were drivers complaining about miles, sitting on a reset... Really? A reset, when I'm 2500 miles from home? No thank you!

I am currently sitting on top of the leader board for one reason... I say thank you sir, may I have another!

I have found that getting to the top is easy. Make sure your ETAs are accurate. Respect the folks that plan and preplan your loads. Respect the shippers and receivers, no matter how they treat you, and run all the hours you can!

When your company gives you a three day load that you can do in two, do it in two! Let them know you're doing it in two and they'll try and change your appointment!

If you use common sense and you're out there to make money, you can do very well in this business, but if you have the word reset in your vocabulary, you might just be in the wrong business!

 

It's funny you say that... In sni's orientation we had a guy who, on the very first day we learned logging, asked, "so when do I get my 34 hour reset?"

As in, "Can I take a break right now for a couple days and come back?"

He was...affectionately called Mr. Reset for the remainder of sni's 3 week orientation.

 

It makes no sense to me why anyone would want a reset when they're away from home. I'll take the money, thank you!

 

Unless I'm sick or dog tired, I'm going to agree with you there. Why in the hell would anyone want to take a reset in such a cramped space, a smelly lot with crap/expensive food, and so far away from home?

 

Just comes down to running your hours out. I have had plenty of weeks that I would run my 70 out on 5-6 days. So I would take a 34. Doing that I could make more money than the guys trying to limit their daily average to 9 hours. Which is about the limit if you do not want to ever reset.
I just run in state now, but I still run 60-70 hours in 5 days, home every day.

If you're logging 14 hours a day you're only cheating yourself! Who in their right mind would want to burn 3 hrs on duty every day??
