Making an Emergency 911 Call

Calling 911 was the right thing to do--as much as you might have gotten involved--ask any LEO--what the worst call they have to go to is---they'll almost all say a domestic--too unpredicatable--and wont be the first time--the person they are tryin to protect attacks them--got a buddy at home in Fl--on full disability from the SO--cause the woman who was being severly beaten by her husband--SHOT him in the back while he was trying to cuff the guy.

 

I don't know about your laws but in Canada the distracted driving laws DO NOT apply during emergencies.

 

I've played into it a time or two, as @TripleSix said, the women bail out the men. At least you reported it. Who knows, it may have been her brother, a friend, hitchhiker or friend of someone else. Regardless, it could have to far by mistake, You may have saved her life.

Sarge and I were working a concert. Got a call about a domestic in the parking lot. This guy is beating this woman like something fierce. I run up, get a hold of him and put him down. That woman hit me so hard that she loosened all me teeth. Sarge walks up cracks her good and puts her down. She got arrested.

Got a call about a fight between an older man and a teen. There's a girl crying her eyes out begging us to save her boyfriend. Come to find out, the older guy was her neighbor who rushed out to beat this kid after he cracked the girl in the head with a bat. The older guy had known this girl since she was a baby.

Had a woman call and complain about her husband beating her up. Sarge tells me that she has been married 4 times, and 3 out 4 husband KOed her.

You know the joke about the woman with 2 black eyes was probably started by a cop.

 

I don't believe anyone would have asked you if you were driving as you were making the call. SO by calling it in you may have helped her. The police response would not be as swift if it was happening in their house, as the troopers may be at one end of the road and maybe had to turn around.

No one really knows if this was a domestic assault, or a hitch-hiker she picked up, or a carjacker.

 

Calling 911 in an emergency situation is OK even while driving. This allowance is in the law.

 

It's more of a joke about the nature of this thread. What else was the cat going to do find a phone booth to switch into his superman tights, cape, fly over and save the day.

 

Why fiind a phone booth when

There's a cab for that

 

Changing into super hero outfits in cabs is so 90ish!! Maybe he can call uber and do it.

 

No point in playing super hero or protector calling it in as a concerned citizen is OK. Its the leo's job to serve and protect. Leave it at that.
