I found out a few things today.
1) It's hard to get a scheduled driving test in just 4 weeks. Most in the valley are 6-8 weeks out. So everybody is having to wait if their school is 3-4 weeks long.
2) The owner of CDLC in Sacramento used to work for TDA for 12 years. He's been in the industry for 20 years and has good reputation with a lot of local companies. Not so many large carriers, but he did suggest I try May Trucking and Watkins Shepard for OTR training and experience. Depending on whether I want the 2 weeks dedicated training in the W/S yard or 3 weeks actually OTR with a trainer. After a year a lot of local jobs will open up.
3) I really need to get in shape.

I know that the DMV (the three closest field offices: West sac, Yuba city, and Stockton ) are all backlogged into mid August as of yesterday. I contacted DMV HQ to complain about this. Any backlog more than 10 days is unacceptable. It's almost harder to get an appointment to be seen by a VA doctor.

This is where TDA is today guys...http://www.bppe.ca.gov/enforcement/actions/soi_1000017.pdf
The State of California, BPPE, seems to have denied TDA a license renewal. -
I wonder what this means to the students currently enrolled in TDA schools, the VA (since they take VA funding to train veterans), or their relationship with Swift....
I am not surprised at this action, but would like to see the "plain English" version of the complaint and judgment without the legal mumbo jumbo. I am not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV. -
I am unsure to be honest. From the language it seems like they are denied, but then again, legal mumbo jumbo is beyond me. Just that info was very interesting considering everything I've seen on this forum about them. Here is the page that lists all vocational schools who had disciplinary actions taken against the: http://www.bppe.ca.gov/enforcement/disciplinary_actions.shtml

Okay. Got it. On the last page of the legal document, it says there is going to be a hearing, and following that hearing, they will either be denied OR the director of the dept of consumer affairs will be "taking other or further action as deemed necessary". This has been going on since 2010, so they have been under notice to compy for years.
When I visited the Salida office, they gave me a Student Performance Fact Sheet from 2012-2013. They are supposed to give annual data about how many students enrolled, how many graduated, how many became employed, that kind of thing. Every school knows what this is. My question is, what's on their current fact sheet that they don't want students to see? That's part of their compliance.

I looked at the list briefly and noted that there were no actions against Western Truck School or CDLC....
-
But without that renewal, the VA is supposed to stop funding and can even file a complaint with the court to order refunds retroactive to when the renewal was originally denied.
-
Indeed. Someone would have to contact some body I suppose? Not sure if the BPPE advising the VA or not.
-
I think the same thing can happen when a student uses any other federal funding under any program to fund their training.
Any current or recent TDA student know anything about this? Or is the school keeping you in the dark too?
