Yeah, that's the sort of thing I'm looking for. I'm hoping some of it is class A work and not just class B strait trucks.

I used to live down in SoFLA before I moved to Texas, and I do know that the pay for just about any occupation down there sucks. Hell, I lived there for a decade, and commuted up the East Coast for my old job. I simply refused to work there.

A few weeks ago I did a casual search on fuel hauling jobs on the Broward County and also the Fort Myers CL. From what I could gather, it looked they were paying about the equivalent of $13-15 an hour for Class A transport jobs. I have no idea what they offered for bobtail work, but it had to be pretty low, since they were offering the equivalent of about $30K a year for driving a tractor-trailer with hazmat, hauling fuel.

Like I said it was a quick and dirty search, so it may not mean anything, but I would definitely bone up on the market before moving down there. Hollywood Beach is a very nice place to live, BTW. Affordable too,or at least it was when I lived there.

Thanks Crazy Trucker! Sounds good, but is it over the road or do you get home daily? I would definitely want to get home daily. I don't have past tanker experience, I do have local experience, have done a whole slew of things. Clean record, aside from 1 speeding ticket that's about to fall off my 3 year record, aside from that I'm spotless. If you're still hiring in about a year and it's home daily stuff I'll look you up!

    I live in Naples.
I ran into a guy hauling fuel to Costco driving a nice new 389 Pete.

The company he worked for was Brenner Oil based out of Holland Michigan but had many trucks hauling fuel in Florida he said.

He ran out of Miami and hauled 2 trips a day across the Alley to Naples

Has nothing to do with weather at all and everything to do with the complete and utter absence of industry aside from the tourism industry and agriculture. We grow stuff on trees and out of the ground. A lot of that stuff is turned into juice and bottled. We have a few meat plants and places that bottle water, soda, etc but that sort of thing can be found anywhere. We don't have much else. If you don't make anything then there's nothing for trucking companies to haul. Why it is this way I don't know. I was born here and have lived here nearly my entire life and still don't know why there's still no industry after all this time. You would think a lot of changes would have come as the times and whatnot have changed. Didn't happen. You would think there would be growth to accommodate the growing population. That isn't happening either. Our podunk towns are becoming slightly less podunk. I wouldn't call that change.

You might want to consider looking for a dedicated freight hauler to run for in S FL or run for a company in Lakeland or Tampa that has lanes to the Southern part of the state. We're look for hazmat tanker drivers in Lakeland but you won't get home daily. I've been with my company 4 years and get home whenever I want to. There are nice areas around Tampa Bay that are a short commute to the Lakeland area.
