I just saw on my schools paperwork that I need to get a physical as a prerequisite before school starts. Which is all good, except I will be going on a road trip so I will have to contact my school administrator and see where he wants it done at I guess. It probably doesn't matter but I'm sure he can recommend a place. Thanks for the answers everyone!

Yes, check with your school. Because somewhere in your tuition, you may have already paid for it.
Some schools can include that in the cost as well as the drug screening. So you certainly do not want to pay twice. -
No......not everywheres. I got the card and the long form on my recent exam. -
At Sage Tech we had to get our med cards and pass a DOT drug screen before classes started. They had some kind of deal so that the exam was $55 and the screen was $25, I believe.

All good info. I did contact the school about it before (I didn't remember doing so but found the email in my sent mail haha), he answered all of the questions besides the one I had on where to get tested. He knows I am going to be attempting to get my permit before hand so I would think he would have said something, but ya never know. I did just shoot him another email asking, but it was late in the day so he probably won't respond until tomorrow at least. Also, a local doctors office has the testing for $200, that's a bit steep isn't it?

it is required by federal law to be part of your license, and no more medical card issued.
-
You are correct, it IS required by law to have the DOT medical linked to our CDL. BUT I STILL GOT the DOT card, and it has been in like everywhere you read about it, like LandLine magazine for instance, that if you GET THE CARD..???
HOLD onto it.
Sooner or later, yes, the card will not be issued anymore. But if YOU THINK that ALL states are online with this new regulation, you would be WRONG. As I stated, and Retried USN stated, and we BOTH live in different states, we BOTH got a DOT card on our last DOT physical. I had mentioned that when I went to renew my medical status at MY DMV, the gal asked for mine, then she scanned it.
What part of that did YOU NOT UNDERSTAND..????
I think we all know what is required, it is OUR individual states that have to get their collective shyte in order, God knows, we got ours. DO you think ALL states were online with the CDL back in April of 1992 when they were ALL supposed to be...????
I know MINE wasn't, I didn't get my CDL until around July of 1992..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (And I was legally driving on our old truck driver's license, and NEVER questioned about it at ANY DOT scale..!!!)
So much for ALL the states to do things ON TIME...!!!!!!!!!!
You keep repeating yourself, and WE ALL KNOW IT, you are beating a dead horse
So please, sit back, and relax. Hooray for some states for being ONLINE with this horse pucky crap. -
Cards are not necessary anymore. I just give the paper form after certifying a driver because as of five days ago, your employee needs to report to the state that you are medically qualified and it then shows up on your license. After it does, you no longer need to carry the doctor's certificate with you. Albeit this rule applies to CDL drivers, not non-CDL.
