Good point !
Often I listen to it pre-recorded and fast forward through that stuff when I come to it, lol.
The Turbo 3000D was such a complete deplorable scam, I'm still amazed nobody went to jail over it.
Reminds me of the "tornado" intake device and all the throttle body spacers sold to car guys, total scams.

I haven't turned that road crap channel on in a long time, on Friday I did and caught the Landline show, kind of miss that one. Other than that, that channel has been and always will be a bunch of no talent wannabe's that are so annoying I want to throw my radio out on the road and run over it. XM is still great for music, and news. (if you can stand to listen to that crap anymore)
KB3MMX, otherhalftw and MJ1657 Thank this. -
It reminds me of the stickers from the 80s that I'd you put on the outside of your tank it would atomize your fuel with the energy from the sun. No bs, this was a real product sold in truck stops. Any one dumb enough to buy these type of products deserve to be scammed.KB3MMX Thanks this.

I like Jonesie.
He is pretty entertaining himself. Good story teller.
You just gotta acquire the taste.
Its like baseball most of it is blahhhhh but every now and then you get some real good stuff. Callers are hit or miss.rachi Thanks this. -
I dropped my XM subscription as soon as it expired after the merger. Once XM12 went off the air I was done. I listened to Jonesy once, for about 3 minutes.

Skill is what keeps you out of ditches, out of accidents, out of danger. Whenever anyone says that they can take someone brand new off the streets, no skill...and make them successful, challenge them to do so. After all, whats the point of having all the business smarts in the world when you cant back, cant park cant drive, cant see, cant remember, cant shift, cant read road signs, CANT DO THE JOB?
If a driver doesnt have the business sense to run the business, but he has decent driving skill, he still makes a good company driver right? But if a person cant drive, but has some business sense what do you do with him?
Thank you Moron.KenworthGuyNH Thanks this. -
While I haven't listened to the show in years so didn't hear that comment I have read a lot of different people discussing it and about context.
It was more along the lines of what I have been saying to our partners for years.
With all the loads that we have run we still have never had any customer call and ask for the driver with the best driving skills. That they only want a driver that has won the trucking rodeo.
But daily we get repeat and profitable business because they are hiring Owner Operators that are professionals. They make check calls,
Haven't listened to the show but have seen many others comments around this.
The context wasn't that you don't need to be able to drive but that driving is a task and the business side is far more important than being the best driver on the road.
We have booked a lot of loads. In June we did more than 1,000 alone. NEVER has anyone called and asked for the most skilled driver. The guy that won the trucking rodeo.
They want to professional. And that we have Owner Operators most of the skills that make our partners money have to do with running a business. -
And of course, that's exactly what the megas want you to think. You can train anyone to drive, right? Put a dummy in the seat and set him loose on the road. We see the results every day. Pardon me while I laugh.

Any dumby? No. But the vast majority of people can learn to drive a truck, safely and competently. It's not exactly rocket science. Takes a lot less skill and knowledge than say, flying an air plane, which also most can learn to do. 25 hours flight time and you can have your pilots license.

The vast majority of people can't even drive a car. The automobile is, by far, the biggest killer of human beings on the planet. If the vast majority of people could drive, there wouldn't be so many wrecks. No, it's not rocket science, but with the degeneration of the species, drivers will become fewer and fewer. They will eventually need the driverless truck to keep up with supply and demand. They will put a dummy in the seat to "monitor" things as drivers will become extinct. Dummy won't have to drive, he will push a button upon reaching destination.
