You food service guys have my respect, but #### ya'll are working too hard for that amount of money.

In my first full 60 hr week,I made that doing nothing but a 50 mile shuttle. All i do is bump docks, nothing else. I'm a hard worker but food service destroys your body. Thank you guys for what you do.

    Arrgg,
Somehow in my hand held today, a couple stops got datta merged together (I don't know how, one was clearly I think a technical glitch of the highest order and of course that account was missing something and sure enough I couldn't figure out what it was. Hate it when that happens. So I issued them credit for something. I called the salesman and said you gotta call this customer and ask them what they got, because there missing stuff, but I don't know what it is. I was counting the cases which in it's self isn't a problem, but I was missing a case from the cooler and it did not show up buried later on, made me sad. Somehow this resturants order got merged in with the local county juvenile detention centers order.

Oh well, sometimes you just sit there and go "What happened?"

gawd Ryder is a waste of oxygen. reefer failed. Guy showed up as I was going to bed (I think 16 + hours is enough) and said he'd fix it. Fire it up 3 hours before picking up backhaul. pick up backhaul, another 1.5 hours to shop. All the way down to 14. (set at minus 10). what a joke.

heard they are down like 4 more drivers. One guy quit, that guy who got caught up in that big wreck in wyoming got let go ("be for the team, oh sorry, one problem, F you"). Talked to another older guy who got injured (bad), leg feet, etc. They made him go out without an electric pallet jack because there weren't any. These aren't small pallets, they weigh like 2000/2500lbs each. He #### near went over the back with it falling on top of him, he's out for months. Had the same thing happen to me early on, I refuse to go without one now. Don't have any? tough, guess I"m going home. unsafe working conditions.

    manual pallet jacks work great....

on a dead smooth and level floor like oh say in a warehouse

in parking lot? up a curb? heck just getting them over the hump to the liftgate? stopping the thing from rolling off the end of the liftgate? no, dangerous as all get out. I did it once when I was still new trying to impress and I won't ever do it again. Tough. get me the tools to do the job.

I read through this thread, and it makes me sad. You guys are WAY underpaid for the crap you do! Talking about hitting $1250 a week...I do that with four loads running regional, and I KNOW I'm not working as hard as y'all! Maximum respect to the guys and gals making sure I get food on a regular basis!

i make an easy 1400+ a week. I"m LOW on the totem pole (although moving up rapidly with everyone quitting/leaving lately). I know guys making over $2000 a week. I know for a fact McLane pays better. I work 3 very long days, a 4th that's 8 to 10 hours and about 3 hours on a 5th. I rarely spend a night in the truck, 3 nights in hotels for this guy, 4 nights at home. I don't pay for anything trucking related (or if so I'm reimbursed). Pretty solid in my book.

if the equipment wasn't such poorly maintained and overused ####, it really wouldn't be a bad job at all. (minus all the trucking stupidity and warehouse stupidity and restaurant stupidity :p )

Besides, the one thing that all truckers do really well is #####. And food service we get lots to ##### about.

One thousand five hundred twenty nine cases. That's right 1529 cases. The trailer is a disaster. Might as well have just thrown #### in in any order. I've already built 2 pallets and I can see I have at least two more.

Oh and I'm broke down again ( lift gate)

Oh you're warehouse is taking after our warehouse. Stuff get's missed because the automation isn't working properly the cases go into the hopper and the pallet jack kid on the long fork has to drive out into the parking lot and throw the missed cases on the floor of the trailer. Today I had 3 burried products and almost some kind of stupid credit to give at almost every stop. I actually and this is not something I do often or at all or even endorse, but I deleted 2 credits took the 3 cases and dropped them off at there respective locations on my way home from work today.

The one stop had two cases of plastic tumblers so it was just wares, not actual food it's self. I figured that saves the salesman some hassel and I don't look like an A-Hole and plus that saves the loader from getting dinged.

So far in the four months I've worked for GFS I've made over $18,000+ so that's not so bad. Although I paid my car insurance for my two cars for this next 6 months ehh watched last weeks pay check go bye bye totally ha-ha! Actually last weeks pay check wasn't even enough to cover the cost for both cars, but it's all paid now and this weeks should be better case count was heavier this week, plus all the bills are paid now so next week will be back on track.

Yeah Cowboys right, there's certainly some goofy things that happen.

When I worked for the beer company we had one guy who had 4 pallets of beer fall into each other. He spent 4 hours sorting out and rebuilding pallets. What he should have done and I know it's easy to say this until you're in that situation is brought the load back to the warehouse and said "Were going to have to try again tomorrow."
