watching loading/counting/pulping depends on the shipper. A lot of loads I carry the shipper doesn't allow drivers on the dock.. period. Tyson and JBS Swift to name two. Produce... PULP! COUNT! EVERY TIME!
Three stop pickup of citrus in Cali last summer. Two of the three stops tried loading 70+ degree oranges... Not hardly. Cost me 28 hours sitting.
On the good side I got almost $300 detention without even asking.KAMA3 Thanks this. -
You only have a couple hours of training in so far. What happened to doing your job? The company is paying you to do a job, they want you in there counting and taking temps that's what I would be doing. Once you get in a comfortable swing of doing your job you can make slight adaptations to the process

Refer always said two things,,,
East coast.
Grocery warehouse.freightwipper Thanks this. -
I found I would rather break down my own loads, put 30-40.00 an hr in my own pocket! If your energetic a lot of times they get to know you and you get a dock pretty fast. Only job that ever paid better was haulin cars, and you cant be afraid of physical labor at either job!
BTW always check pulp temps and watch whats going on the wagon!poppapump1332 and KAMA3 Thank this. -
Best thing about reefer (at least where I am) is it's consistent work, year round, all the miles I want. avg length of haul about 1,200 miles. No slow times, no bad areas, no sitting, predictable shippers/receivers, stay there 6 months, you've been to 80% of the usual pickups and unloads and know the routine and what to expect and how to trip plan accordingly. And I never touch any freight.
No, it's not as good as some other trucking work, but it beats the hell out of most.Mr.X and poppapump1332 Thank this.
