as will I. It makes more financial sense to keep my liabilities at a minimum. I don't need the newest fanciest equipment to be happy and successful. I just look at my bank account, retirement fund and knowing my family is finacially stable makes me happy. A new truck will not make you anymore money than a "classic"

Like a guy pointed out to me that made sense when I was truck shopping. " buy a older truck and eventually when you start replacing everything you'll end up with your own glider, because do you want to spend $30k a year for 5 years in truck payments plus maintenance or $30k a year in maintence and no truck payments". Made a lot of sense to me. Hood or no hood like the others pointed out the fuel mileage loss vs the truck payment just won't justify in a lot of operations

I'm surprised to hear you guys talk about lack of leg room in a W9. As I mentioned I've driven every model KW except the W9 and I assumed the longer hood would translate into more leg room. Makes sense I guess since the cabs are the same but what did they do with all that extra length...... Put a big gap between the engine and firewall?. You all would be REALLY cramped up in a 359.

Maybe I misunderstood the OP was calling an old fuel guzzler. I thought he was saying hoods wasted fuel. Maybe he was saying old engines waste fuel.

In the T660 I've drove it was perfect for me because the seat went all the way to the floor and I'm only 5'6. I guess the guy that had my W9 must've like sitting up high because even with letting all the air out it still sits about 6 inches higher than normal and also doesn't slide all the way back like other trucks have. A 6ft tall guy would hate my truck with the way the seats are. Which I'm sure the weren't the original OEM seats that came with the truck.

Hi rank, I don't mean to be harsh, but I've found, anyone that calls the fuel that's used in semi's, gas, generally aren't too credible

You make a very good point never has a broker cared what I had for a truck and never offered more for a new one
Also want to get rid of another myth have owned dozen + trucks in my time of doing this just got rid of 5 2013 W900s the truck in my avatar I bought used in 07 and is what I will be driving on monday it has cost me less in downtime and maintenance in the 8 years I have had it then the 13s cost in the 2 years I had them
Also because it is old an paid for I have also been able to afford to do some cool stuff to it that make it much nicer to drive then a new truck things like custom seats chrome that makes me happy etc
that believe it or not I found also benefits my business I have had inspectors open look under my hood and stop right there and write me a pass because they said anyone that puts this much into his truck there is no point to look further

Hi 2fuzy, I hear ya'. I've had troopers tell me, if an older truck that looks good comes in, generally, they are in top notch shape, because the drivers are proud to drive them, and I can't tell you how many times I've noticed problems when buffing the wheels or tanks.

Yes sir, I do not have much in maintaining the truck I own. I replace things before they break, even if it might not need to be replaced at that moment. If you upkeep the truck crawl around and look at it every week you catch things before you need a hook.

Also with the money I save I do custom things to it. I put a wood floor in it not to long ago and finally got me a fancy seat (my butt is very happy now). I take pride in all I do and customers enjoy having a clean good looking truck/trailer show up to load. Not once has a broker asked what I drive. And I never get inspections. (I tried to get one during the "blitz" I wanted that sticker) I was told to get on down the road. :-(
