Exactly. Usually it's the opposite, they want it fixed asap and shop time limited so the mfg isn't eating more money.
Longest I've had a new truck in the shop was a week with CAT. It dropped a valve and needed a overhaul to fix the engine. They definitely got it done as fast as possible, no complaints.

Because we've lived it?
And maybe not a week in the shop, but the truck is booked OOS for a week. Heck it takes a day just to get it towed to the shop, then wait your turn, then they have to diagnose it becasue it's so new nobody has any history on it, then 2-3 days to get parts, then the parts are wrong. And then you can throw two days out the window for a weekend. Plus traveling costs to and fro the dealer. And when all of that is done you spend a week fighting over warranty. And then you drive 10 miles you realize it still ain't right.
With our '05 MXS accert, the tech put the engine it all back together started it up and realized the head had a friggin' picture window in it that he didn't see so he got to do the job a second time.
If I were you, with a 2015 Paccar, I wouldn't say to much. Karma is a buggerLast edited: Jul 5, 2015

If you're referring to the 2008 T660, I'd get rid of it. 2008 to 2010, dpf only, I guess a lot of people had issues with them. Ive owned two now with dpf and scr systems and haven't seen any problems diagnosing codes. I haven't had any problems with this Kenworth, but I did have a few issues with my Mack and the only time it was in the shop that long was waiting for a part to come in that was delayed because of weather in January of 2014. I was at home , so didn't really bother me.

The '05 MXS with the windowed head was an Accert Cat. It's been a POS too just like the '08 T660. Somewhere around '04 someone got the idea that the owner was supposed to work for the truck instead of the other way around.
The driver of the T660 has recently got his eye set on a '04 MBN Cat in a 379 Pete. He has a hard time looking past shiny paint and LED's. I've been biding my time waiting for a 3406 or a 6NZ or a 12.7 or a N14. Hard to find a nice one and they don't hang around long.Last edited: Jul 5, 2015

We have one in a '01 T2000 but the chassis is a rattle trap
-
I thought T2's were rattle traps from the beginning, pull that thing out and put it in a good chassis.

I have pulled 2 t800 2013 trucks to the shop for the same stupid thing. DEF gauge says 1/2 to full but sensor says empty and derates engine. The gauge was correct.

Wow. This thread got a lot of replies, it was nice to hear from a lot of people with different business models and different business values. Personally I've been saving my arse off for 4yrs now have a little over $110k. I'm gonna go after a 2014 cascadia evo I have enough to pay cash for one and still have a business reserve. I've driven company up to now and had two trucks most recent another 2014 cascadia I've had since it was new with 280, 000/miles on it. Its done very well for me so far, only problems were two coolant lines I had to have changed. Now that its summer time it won't drop below 9mpg until fall, I got 1478 miles on my last tank of 159 gallons. With numbers like that I cant wait until the fuel prices come back up above $4.00/gal, I'll actually do better off the surcharge when fuel prices climb again, sorry I know some of you don't want to hear that. This 2014 seems solid so far hopefully it works out for me to go after another similar 2014 wish me luck fellas this will be the 1st truck I own. I'm willing to give the new truck route a try but if I get bit by serious reliability issues I'll never do it again.

You need to rethink your operation if you're dependent on the price swings of fuel for increase in profitability. Think about how rediculous that is. It's the mindset of fixed rate low rates mileage guys. Take control of your business and advantage of market rates then you'll be making good profits regardless if fuel is $4 a gallon or $1 a gallon.
Bean Jr., Long FLD, Ruthless and 1 other person Thank this.
