My brother isn't too happy about the situation either. He just thinks that they could have handled the situation a little better.
The other bad thing is technically im not allowed to ride shotgun these 3 days because I'd have to be on duty for that time... they want me either off duty or in the sleeper the whole 3 days.. so that means I can kiss next quarter bonus goodbye..
I do have the ac adapter, I bring it with me just in case. But yeah, 7 days total (3.5 truck in shop and 3 day oos) of not driving really hurts..
What it all comes down to is the insurance companies forcing the big trucking companies to be more vigilant on sleep apnea..
Do you know if ic is monitored for compliance like us company drivers?
Odd sleep apnea question

Yes and no?
Ive heard tale that it is monitored, but I don't know to what extent.
It isn't worth the swap though because IC's have to pay out of pocket for their supplies.
If you're thinking of going that route, get a negative test first.FRG1735 Thanks this. -
After reading the rest of your posts after this one, it is obvious that they are "punishing" you. Don't know about you, but I don't take that crap lightly. I think I'd be looking for someplace else to work.
It's one thing if you are out of compliance day (night) after day (night) after day (night) but when it is a one shot deal where you have a legitimate reason, then it is purely a BS situation. -
Thing is, right now sni is paying for his equipment. If the machine isn't paid for he'll also owe on that.
I'm in agreement that a new job should be found, and I'm going to be facing the same but I'm assuming money is tight.
Either way, it's something that needs to be fought against. -
So what's the total amount we have to pay for the machine? I've been paying for about 10 months now.. Ive tried calling payroll but nobody can seem to answer my question.
Vilhiem Thanks this. -
pay......bend over...then pay some more
Vilhiem Thanks this. -
Payroll won't know jack... Gotta ca either benefits or those idiots out in Texas, PPD.
Yep... Lube cost extra. -
I have an inverter in my truck just for that reason.Vilhiem Thanks this. -
Ok..I have now heard it all...if Schneider is making you go to their Sleep Dr. then Sni should provide you with a APU or inverter PLUS a refrigerator so you can "eat" right. I am pretty sure they sent you for study because of BMI...but I beg to ask SNI do they test every driver? I bet not. I am headed to IC and have my own machine, I will not allow them to inspect it or keep tabs on my useage of it. I would be screaming like crazzy over this I bet a complaint filed with the State of Wisconsin Attorneys General will stop there practice. This is just wrong.
Be Safe Out There

I have a small inverter myself, but I've no need to use it for the apnea machine. I also have a 12v cord I can use.
I'm in partial agreement with you @CaptainDaveG ... While osa is not a fat person's diagnosis, it does affect many that are overweight.
Considering that I was told outright that my bmi was the issue, then I feel that sni does need to have alternate programs. In the long run, helping drivers that need to shed a few pounds (or more) would help them keep good drivers. Both when it comes to company relations and longevity.
I don't feel they should supply you with a fridge though...lol. Knowing sni they'd buy the cheapest available fridge regardless of size. You might could fit a couple cans of coke into some I've seen. ...which would defeat the purpose.tazman74, FRG1735 and CaptainDaveG Thank this.
