It can be difficult to get a job as this accident is so recent. You may have already been told to pay attention, no matter the circumstances involved. Some companies may deny you a job until at least 1 year has passed.

Hard to say who will actually hire you out of school. By rear-ending another vehicle, you have shown potential employers that you do not pay attention. Accidents do happen, but to some trucking companies, there are just no excuses.

If you quit school now, you may lose any chance of recovering some money already spent, or you may be past the point of no return. Finish the school get your CDL and apply, apply, apply, and DO NOT LIE about the accident, as it WILL SHOW up on your DMV record.

    Where is your location; city/state?
Florida Beauty Express gives some drivers a second chance. Good pay grossing over $1700.00 weekly and unlimited time off. Driver chooses how much time off. They're out of Miami, FL.
Carolina Cargo hires out of 48 states.

I am familiar with Middletown. I used to travel Rte 66 thru the area off of 9 and from 91.

There are LTL companies in the area, like Yellow, NEMF off of 91, get your CDL and see if either will take you on. I think OD is around there as well. Further up 91, I think Sysco is still there as well.

But you will need to get the doubles and hazmat endorsements as well

With that rear ender, if you have problems finding a job then try:
    Carolina Cargo
    Martin Enterprises of the Carolinas
    Navajo Express
    Earl Henderson Trucking

Typically how much time needs to pass from an incident like that before companies will start to consider you again?

This is for everyone else that's considering becoming a driver (not trying to be a buster to OP, just trying to prevent others from hurting their chances before they even get started):

There are 2 mistakes made. First, of course is tailgating. OP could not stop within the following distance. Second, OP was driving blindly.

How do you know he was driving blindly?

Well, for one, when you tailgate, you block your foward vision (duh!). If the deer ran out in front of another vehicle to where that vehicle had to slam on the brakes, OP should have been able to see the deer before they did. It was coming from the side of the lead car, so they wouldnt see it until almost too late. But that would still be foward of OP. As a driver, you have to look ahead of the vehicle in front of you in order to better the odds of you avoiding any incidents.

    Same thing right?

No. One has to do with stopping distance and the other has to do with being able to see while driving. If you are driving, and do not/cannot see, you are driving blind. If you are following and cannot stop within the following distance, you are tailgating. Driving blind is an even bigger problem than tailgating because so many more do it.

Perfect day, dry roads and what's the first thing the motorist says? He wasnt texting. If he were texting, he wouldn't have hit the brakes.

Maybe everyone critiquing some "bad driving habits" from the OP's initial post should create some "good reading and comprehension" skills before criticizing another!

I'm guessing everyone missed the part about not getting a ticket, just a warning! One question...was the warning a verbal warning or a written warning? Nah, make that two questions...was there an accident report done and filed with any LEO or DMV? If not, then technically...it didn't happen!

You can go to work with another company the next day. May not be what you really want, but you will be hired.
