Looking to buy a GPS and was wondering what most of you are using. I have never owned one so what are features to look for.
Thanks in advance

I was thinking of getting one of each and comparing, but since I can usually tell when mine is lying, it would be like opening a whole new can of worms. I'm not sure if I should update it either, import new lies? Na (often enough, it tells me to go around roads that have been there for years, in favor of going farther on non truck routes, then when I go the correct way, it suddenly knows exactly where I'm headed). I don't have this year's road atlas either, just using my intuition and memory about half the time (I go different ways to and from work to run some counterintelligence on the gps). It isn't all that bad, though sometimes I think it's only accurate to gain my trust, and then sandbag me into a pool of quicksand.

I have had Google maps send me in circles in my car.
Would absolutely enrage me if that happened in a truck... -
Circles ? a GPS isnt that bad.. If it is you're doing something wrong.. Like missing a turn or exit with out realizing it. Auto reroute kicks in.. Do it enough and one runs around in circles chasing ones tail. -
ah yes, a GP effing S, CAN BE that bad.
When I went to downtown Boston to find my then new stop, I drove my car on down there one Sunday morning. BUT I had my GP effing S set to "truck" so as to avoid low clearances and such.
WELLLLL...that GP effing S, sent ME IN CIRCLES in downtown effing Boston.
Now, if it had been me, in MY truck, a 53 footer mind you, I would have wrapped that trailer around several poles, get wedged in-between buildings, run over cars, and squash several people.
SO yeah, a GP effing S can send one in circles.....and google maps IS NOT set up for trucks. -
@ G. Anthony.. Haven't had that problem, on occasion a no truck city street or whatever pops up, there's always been a sign. Go around.. The other occasional is some farmer's field which can be seen. The fields are rare and a country block off. The other prob is adding.miles which can be solved.
All in all the unit is more hellpful then a no way.. Have to get acquainted with it know its pro's n cons..
My 2¢
