Volvo VN780 or Intl 9400I for me. I have driven a Freightshaker FLD120ST and will not drive that again unless I'm paid big bucks. Very loud but the dash layout is nice. Pete and KW will come in second.

While not available until Sept 08 I expect the International Lonestar to be the shizzle. Queen sized murphy bed, hardwood floor in sleeper, lots of cabinets and a cabin and dash that look like it was made by Lexus or Cadillac.

Now that there is a pertty truck.........

Peterbilt 379
Kenworth W900
Freightliner Classic
In that order. I like the way they look outside. The 387 has crazy room but eh... I got in it to drive a big rig and those short nosed things look like baby trucks. Something about a long nose pete that just screams 'real truck' to me. -
Peterbilt 387 I like the room it offers and they are comfy. Thats what I drove when I was with Stevens Transport.

I am a Peterbilt man for life. Love them to death. Given the choice of any truck in the world to drive It would be a Pete. I actually dont mind driving anything besides a frieghtliner. I despise them and feel cheap driving one. I really cant stand driving any kind of condo with a huge area above my head and behind me. I prefer being in a Cab and having the Living area seperate. Need a roof over my head and a wall behind mem although the wall is becoming harder to accomidate. I also like the narrow cab of a Pete classic. Where I can reach the other door just by leaning a lil bit. I prefer to drive something that feels like a truck and not a motor home. I guess I am old school like that. I hope Pete never completely abandons their classic look.

Ditto that, frago.

My experience is WAY outdated (by 35 years). I have driven a cab-over Pete, a gas Ford 5000 (yes, it had a 5th wheel) , and (>urk<) an old White with a Triplex transmission (if you can shift that, you can drive anything!)
My wife is eventually going team with me, and we both like the layout of a Volvo we saw with bench seats on either side of the sleeper with a table in the middle. Fold down bunk above, and I suspect the bench seats and table make another bunk. Creature comforts make a difference for a man and wife team, you know (we saw one sleeper that had a LPG FIREPLACE and Lay-Z-Boy chair in it!!!!)
As far as the truck itself, and aerodynamics and wind noise aside, is truck brand really so important? Pull the body off, and many of the trucks use nearly identical components! What's under the hood? What tranny, and rear end? What's the best overall combination, and doesn't THAT depend on where you drive and how?
Decisions, decisions!
