Just wondering how bad it can be to go through a company driving school with them then knowing they've got you for a year or so?

Not bad at all if you go in with realistic expectations

Probably better than your title..after all you only have to give up a year instead of 6-10 years.

Choose the right company and wont be as bad as you think..everyone starts at the bottom.
After a year you can write your own ticket..as long as you keep your CDL clean.

    Good Luck.

It is really very bad, You will not be allowed to eat dinner at your time, but rather the time you have available. You will not be able to shower when you want to as the company does not allow you to be clean. You will have to walk thru the truck stop parking lot on the hottest muggiest days and breathe the aroma of the pee laden lot.

You will not get a paycheck, as they don't pay servants, when it comes time to go on your own, they push a lease deal on you. you will forever be an indentured servant.

Other than that, and perhaps a few smaller things, it ain't that bad. Just remember to shower and eat before you leave home, and take along extra cash to pay off you trainer.

If there's absolutely no way you can come up with a few thousand bucks to pay for CDL training, then you have to take what you can get. It's only going to last a year so just gut it out and you should be alright (unless the smell of your trainer's feet kills you).

Well, if you sign up with a company like that one with the trucks that look like a big pumpkin and they give you a dedicated route, then you know exactly what you'll be doing and what it will pay.

I'd check for some real advice from unbiased drivers who know that company before signing anything. I hear many companies pay you back for schooling costs, so why not get a student loan at a community college and go that route?
