Driver brought a back haul , (I know, an ugly word.) from Dallas to mobile for $1250. Our head haul to Decature pays $2500. Load was refused in Mobile because they are not ready for the loads until Sept. They want the load back in Dallas for the same $1250. Does anybody know what the legal options are?
Need a quick answer - back haul load refused

if the receiver refused the load there isnt much you can do. you either have to take the load back to tx for the agreed upon rate or pay to have someone else do it. the decatur load is good money so if you can call a trusted broker and have the load put on another trailer somehow just sub the load out. otherwise your gonna have to take the hit and take the load back to tx. especially if it is a regular/well paying repeat account. a service failure like that can really make your ### feel raw. hope that helps ya

Thanks, it is a one time brokers load out of Tx. Direct freight long time customer to Tx.
-
that was far from legal advice lol. he doesnt have any other options. broker the load back to tx or haul it himself. you have a better idea lets hear it. the decatur trip pays $750 more $$$. lets hear your strategy

no problem. $1250 from dallas to mobile is $2.12/mi, not terrible. considering its relatively flat travel

Have consignee sign the bills refused, take the load to storage, send shipper the bill...
ReeferOhio, Ruthless, truckon and 3 others Thank this. -
assuming that storage is available right? the shipper is will to pay the return freight to get the materials back why not just take that? someone will still have to haul that freight back to dallas unless the company receiving it in september wants to sit on stock they arent ready for. just be thankful the shipper is willing to pay the return freight and take it back to them. trucks still making money and the dude doesnt have to get in a pissing war with the shipper which might cost him more money in the long run. thats just poor business practices

Ooida says negotiate better rate or put in storage. I'll update with outcome but it isn't going back for $1250.
ReeferOhio, truckon, insertnamehere and 1 other person Thank this. -
Other trucks from different broker is getting $2000 to take back. At least that is what they are saying
truckon Thanks this.
