I wish to add this before anyone thinks I'm simply a pompous arrogant ### spouting nonsensical things...
I am guilty of having a little too much caffeine or sugar in a day on occasion, so I'm not perfect and do not wish to condemn or pass judgement on anyone.
However I will gladly state my opinion as well as any facts I may happen to know about the subject.
I have not ever smoked pot myself and am not interested in doing so. I like having a clear and unaltered mind as much as possible.
I personally don't care if you want to do meth or heroine or smoke cigarettes... But don't complain when it's time to pay the bills for your choices. That's all I ask of people, and unfortunately for many that's just too much.

I'm actually pretty sure you get tested regardless... It's both a caution on the part of the law but also protection for you if you're clean.
-
I'm actually positive you don't have to go for test if you're not cited.

If either vehicle requires a tow, the truck driver is required to pee in a cup. -
Robin Williams had a funny little bit of stand up about this something like his dad standing there on his 4th pot of coffee smoking a cigarette saying "your mother and I never did drugs" like they can't figure out why the kids use drugs . I don't know any drug that makes people act like they do when they are drunk yet if a driver wants to get plastered on his day off and return to work hung over but sober that's fine its bull #### I would rather be on the road with someone who smoked a joint on Saturday and is back to work Monday then someone who can't even keep their food down and who's hands won't stop shaking it's completely stupid. If I can trust you to use alcohol on your day off but not while working then I can trust you to smoke a bowl with the same responsibility.

Who doesn't know this already and who doesn't know your company might have a completely different set of rules that they make you follow in the oilfields if your in the vacinity of an incident you are swept up and taken in for a test I took 14 test in 12 months one year.

Based on the posts in this thread... many.jerezxp7, Vilhiem and Angies427rs Thank this.

Thank you for clearing that up, I think I got the idea that it happens no matter what from SNI. But that may be their more strict rule.Last edited: Jul 13, 2015

A company can test you under other circumstances with a non-DOT test if they have a policy in place (for instance, they can say "any incident with damage" or "towaway even if citation isn't issued"). However, they can only do a DOT test if the situation is allowable under Federal regs.
As for the original question... marijuana is still on the DOT test, so best bet is to not use (not even once, not even off duty).Vilhiem Thanks this.
