A wrench fell off a vehicle on the road near where I was off loading in Lubbock today. A couple cars ran it over before I realized what it was. I walked over and grabbed it. We can't have litter on our roads after all.

On the other hand,,in a former life traveling a washboard gravel road in Iowa,,,started to pick up wrenches, screwdrivers, sockets, ( basically an entire 365 piece Craftsman mechanics tool set ) I got really excited when I found the 18 volt cordless drill and eventually the box of drill bits. The bonus was the 3 drawer tool box. Was dented but still worked. A few miles later was a John Deere mechanic headed back driving very slow,,,I did the right thing .

One time when I worked at a steel construction company as a driver's/mechanic's assistant I chained and strapped a load of junk welders and other scrap headed for CMC Recycling and left the breaker bar in the bed of the John Deere gator I drove around the yard. The company driver was so pissed when he got there he wanted to pull me through the phone and stomp me into the mud, gave me hell about it for 3 months. Never forgot to put the bar away again. Another time I forgot to put the fuel cap back on the right side fuel tank of the old Western Star we used as a yard truck. I got half way across the yard before one of the rail fitters flagged me down and pointed it out. After that I always put the the cap back before fueling the other tank and would double check before I moved the truck.
