ok, sounds good,
I could see how manual input could get annoying but as long as it has the navigation capability I`m cool with that.
Thank you!
Samx...what fleet did you run on?

No problem. I was on dry western 11. Out 5 home for 34, I would stay out longer tho more like 8-9 days and two days off by choice. Only reason I left was to be local (got a government driving job with USPS). My PTA was never questioned either. If I wanted to take a 34 on the road I just set my PTA and that's it.
GranaRig831 Thanks this. -
"A nice option is the off duty driving which they allow you to use"
more info on this please...?
I prefer the dry side but due to my home location being far from terminal or yard, only option for me to get on w/ IDC is reefer side -
GranaRig831 Thanks this.

Monterey Mushroom... hmm that would positively work if allowed to drop trailer n bob tail,
I was offered a job there couple months back to run regional for them but was set back by their co policies....
no smoking in trucks, outside & in-cab cameras, fuel at their yards or Ryder rental yards where they lease some of their trucks so none or not much shower credits, truck I road tested in was kinda worn out n not clean inside...
anyways thank`s for taking the time to look into this for me.
Ohh...what`s the deal on that OFF DUTY driving time?...and you being reefer side...
is load & deliver times the usual 2-3 hr waits?
Well hopefully I get to go to Tacoma orientation next week & get hired ..maybe I`ll see & meet you out on road... -
They give us 45 min a day for off duty driving.
I get a lot of preloaded trailers, and usually wait under 2 hours to get unloaded, but it all depends on the customer.GranaRig831 Thanks this. -
Is preloaded trailers the norm for reefer side?...or. just hit n miss?
Today received my flight info to attend orientation in Tacoma next Monday -
Yeah I have to drop the trailer. I cant have a trailer empty or loaded during my off duty driving. I can do pretty much anything during that time as long as its not a restricted truck stop. I normally head to Walmart and restock my fridge and other necessities. I do laundry at the terminals or when I'm home every couple weeks.
Preloaded is majority of Interstates freight from what i see on both dry and reefer, but i do get stuck at the Safeway DC waiting to get loaded. I hate that place.GranaRig831 Thanks this. -
BigRig,
wheres that Safeway DC at?
it sounds like they take care of you & that your fairly content with IDC since you`ve been their a few yrs...
they do seem & sound to be a decent company & looking foward to rolling with them but am sure they have their fair share of issues &/or restrictions,
any insight on their orientation road test?
do they usually have enough trucks in Tacoma to assign new drivers when finished with orientation?...I hear solo`s usually get Freightliners
Appreciate you taking the time & effort to answer questions! -
curious to know...their orientation packlist mentions bringing laptop if you have one...
any idea on reason of this?
