So you throw a hissy fit because you couldn't get your way. Guess you don't like that freedom of speech thing. So you just take your wall and delete!! Then you wonder why no one will give you their contact info. So you can put it on bathroom stalls, and hand dryers across this great country. You my friend are the weakest link:)

Wow. This was the reaction from a few of my "friends" on FB when I announced I was deleting my account. Guess they didn't read the entire post either.

What you two have just done is protected speech. You have the right to your opinion of me and you have a first amendment right to call me an ####### if you so choose. It isn't polite, it isn't civil, it's childish to ridicule someone for choosing not to be part of an online social network, but it DOESN'T VIOLATE FEDERAL LAW. WIPING YOUR PRIVATES WITH THE AMERICAN FLAG DOES. I chose not to be a part of a platform that considers that kind of behavior acceptable. No hissy fit involved; it was a rational decision. Seems to me that going on someone else's thread and flaming him like some nine year old little guttersniping troll playing on Daddy's computer for making a decision that in no way concerns him falls more in the category of "hissy fit." In what way does my deleting my FB account affect you at all?? In what way is it any skin off your teeth? Yes, I made the announcement in a public forum...but I don't recall wondering why "nobody" would give me contact info--in fact, my closest friends exchanged phone numbers with me. There was no concern about me "putting their info on bathroom walls across the country" because that never entered our minds. I'm sorry for you that that's how you think. I pity you that this kind of despicable behavior is the first thing that comes to your mind--it is a hard thing to live in such a world. But I don't begrudge you the right to speak it.

I've fought to keep this thread positive and civil, and I believe most of the people here feel the same way. I guess the trolls will get in no matter what you do when there is no accountability. That's another issue I have with FB (and online forums in general). Everybody's a complete bad-### behind a keyboard. Kind of like on the CB.

Go back to your cartoons, boy--grownups are talking here.

To me, its not the fact the you are deleting your account. I can understand that completely, especially with you being a veteran. My complaint is the fact that you keep beating the "I am deleting my account" drum repeatedly. Stop talking so much about it and just do it already. I read your thread for the entertainment. Not for the repeated complaints.

Okay, thanks for clearing that one up...I did admittedly drone on about it because I was ambivalent about deleting it altogether. (It's done, by the way). For my angry response directed at you, I apologize.

I said it a lot on FB to give my friends who don't check their accounts every day time to get me contact info if they wished. Based on what you just said I can see how I talked about it a little too much here.

I was a bit of a Facebook addict; my phone looks weird without the icon and I found myself wondering what to do with myself now that I'm not browsing the news feed all the time? Answer: Split the time between exercising my mind and my body. I'm really out of shape; it's embarrassing. I'll keep you posted on my suffering.

No apology necessary. As fas as being out of shape.......well me too. The only exercise I manage is unloading my truck at stores a couple times a day. No time for anything else. Good luck. Look forward to reading about your impending suffering.

Yeah, most people find other's pain amusing. Gonna start with a basic push up regimen per an Android app. I'm expecting stiffness and soreness throughout the upper body and core with sporadic crying fits over the loss of Cinnabon.

Too funny!!!! Somehow I picture you in that sportcoat crying while doing pushups with a cinnabon sitting just out of reach.

BTW........last trip to Kroger I found a Butterball Fried Turkey lunchmeat. Its really good and good for you being turkey.
