I had 18,000lbs in the 28' on Friday and 16 stops that was enough work for me ha-ha.
One of my stops now literally has an active rail line in there parking lot it's a street running industry line. Friday I was delivering there and I hear a noise that sounded like a train and I peaked out of the freezer and saw two railroad workers standing on the platform of a covered hopper car stopped right by my truck and anyhow I had to move my truck so the train could get though.
The restaurant said it's been hard on them the rail line was inactive for 15 years and a week or so ago they got a letter saying you know those rail road tracks in you're parking lot, well there going to be reopen again. They said Tuesday they were getting a delivery and a train came and the truck had to move. They said it's even better when it's dinner time people are chowing down and the train comes through and stops and people have to move there cars and people get really annoyed by that.Shaggy Thanks this. -
who the hell builds a parking lot on a rail line? (besides government)
seriously, that's hilarious. You HAVE to take a picture and post it.
man, you guys must have some small stops. The smallest one I've ever done is a chicken place in a university, over breaks, they get like 15-20 cases (500 to 700lbs or so). Most deliveries (even small ones) are 100 cases or so (3000lbs more or less)Mike2633 Thanks this. -
17 stops is the most we do.
mon-13 stops
tues-17
thurs-15

on the plus side going up and down the ramp a million times a day has toned my legs just fabulously, lol. -
The Two Red Doors are where I deliver and see the railroad tracks this was taken a month or so ago when the line was just getting ready to be reactivated. It's not a mainline it's an industry spur used to service Morton Salt.

Isn't it though? Like I said it's not a mainline the trains go through there at 10 miles an hour and like I said when they shove the cars to the salt plant they have guys who ride on the platforms of the cars so if the train has to stop it can you're not in any true danger like you see on the news, because they know the tracks and the restaurant are in an odd spot, plus those tracks are not the greatest so the trains can't go through there very fast anyhow.

Hello everyone! This is my first post on thetruckersreport.com!
I have some questions for anyone working for MBM. I'm thinking of applying for a job as driver at the Aurora DC. I've done 2.5 years OTR with no tickets and no accidents. I have a lot of questions, but I will be thrilled with whatever contribution you care to make. Thanks in advance!
1. What restaurants do you service?
2. How many different routes are there? Do you work for several months before you see the same route again?
3. How long did you spend on extra board before you got something steady?
4. Do you run paper logs or electronic?
5. I've heard you can stay in a hotel. Do you get a small bonus if you sleep in the truck?
6. Is there an idle policy?
7. Is navigating parking lots especially challenging? Do you end up backing in to a lot of places? Do you often park three or four hundred yards away? Do you ever just stay in the street or in a turn lane? I'm pretty good in tight spaces, but I'm still a little anxious about this point.
8. Do you generally feel like you have enough time to make deliveries? Is dispatch at all understanding if it isn't your fault? Are your frequently late?
9. I've heard the trailers are 48'. Are the tractors also shorter wheelbase? Do you barely make turns like a hundred times a day?
10. Do you pay for health insurance?
11. What is 401(k) match like?
12. Does the electric pallet jack they give go over curbs?
13. Is there a 4wd pallet jack with big tires and active suspension for the mountain deliveries? Just kidding.
Thank you so much for indulging my neurotic inquiry. -
I like the new gfs logo when you gettin that update ?
