One of the best items I think is great to eat is Avocado.
I buy a bag of them at Costco. Nutritious to a fault. I'll chop one up drizzle a balsamic vinegar mix with olive oil, and the sprinkle Parmesan cheese over that. A wicked snack that's as good as it gets. We have come away from simple cooking at home and been brainwashed into eating junk and fast food. I cook on the truck like I'm at home. It takes a bit of thought but it can be done. But alas, most of us aren't motivated. We lapse into eating something fast like Subway and Puzza Hut.
What the young guys don't realize is that it gets worse as you get older. I see guys 30 yrs younger than me weighing around 350-400lbs. They can barely walk. Then they think taking meds will give them a quick fix. So they can get thru the DOT medical. Eventually it will catch up on you. Stop kidding yourself. It's time to stop making excuses.

Eliminate all fast food like BK and Carl's.
Absolutely no snacks with Sucrose, Fructose and Corn Syrup and Aspartame.
Find and alternative to coffee and energy drinks.
Bread breaks down into sugar once ingested so balance how much you consume.
    #### Soda. Try to eliminate sugar as much as possible.
    No Corn Syrup .
Microwaves depleat nutritional values in everything.

If you can afford it, try a shop only at farmers markets for your cooler or at stores that carry GMO, Pesticide, Growth Hormone free foods. Grains and Wheats are not all that good.

Rye, Sour Dough or Coconut bread is good.

    Take b12 for energy.
Drink at least 3 cups of water with two tea spoons of natural Apple cyder vinegar mixed in.
A tea spoon a day of natural extra virgin cold pressed coconut oil is great.

There is so much stuff you can do with your diet that will literally change your life.

Consider some digestive supplements too. Our bodies were not meant to consume and be forced to break down all the chemicals in our food.

You want to buy the vinegar with the"mother" in it. That is the natural solids that get strained out of most vinegars.
A garlic glove, cinnamon, turmeric mixed with black pepper. These all help your body stay healthy.

    Charli Girl Thanks this.

Talking about vinegar. Has anyone tried the real stuff, balsamic that pours like syrup. The stuff you buy at the supermarket is not the real deal. I bought a small bottle imported from Italy. Much more thick and you just drizzle it over whatever you like. Delicious flavor.
    There is a drawback though.....price.
It ain't cheap. It's aged for 10-15 yrs. my small bottle set me back $40. But there again, I'm making it last. I do tend to buy the more exotic stuff at times. You may not think it's worth it so YMMV

The price for food we pay to eat healthy is cheaper than the meds needed to survive if we eat cheap food filled with unwanted /unnatural/ damaging chemicals.

I agree. The US should be ashamed at the standard of food produced. Too many packaged and additives to stop them from spoiling. GMOs are being promoted, thanks to the powerful companies like Monsanto. But you have to realize that behind all of this scandal is money. Big pharma touts their toxic chemicals. Look at all the increase of drug ads.
I'm lucky, at 62 I've never taken any kind of drug, but I've had my family doc try it on. I told him politely to take a hike. He told me that there is something wrong with me. All his patients of my age are on some kind of drug!!
People are sicker than ever, and a lot of it is because of the garbage we eat. The US spends more on healthcare than any country on earth. It's a big money spinner for the corporations. It's as if they want us to be sick.
You will be surprised to know that many European countries, despite people being poorer, will actually spend a bigger portion of their wages on fresh food than they do here. Fast food in many instances, doesn't exist. Home cooking is the norm. If you have ever watched Anthony Bourdain on TV, you know what 'm talking about.
    Bon appetit

You are so right!!! Unfortunately folks don't pay attention to these things when they go into the voters booth! I've only realized it myself in the last several years and I'm taking " heed" for sure!
