A friend of mine is going to work for a small company and they want him to drive as a 1099, he will be driving their trucks. Any thoughts?

This is hashed many times in the past. Again ... Do not do it unless you have complete control of the truck and it's costs and where it goes or does not go. Otherwise be a W2 company driver and get all the other benefits and not worry about taxes. W2 jobs are a dime a dozen. Absolutely no reason to set yourself up for abuse, from more then 1 angle.

The reason he was asking is of course his unfamiliarity with it. He is being offered guarenteed 1000 a week, every company he has worked for ( myself included ) has always been good week vs bad week with more often having bad weeks. He is going through a custody battle and looking to simplify his budget with a set amount so as to never have to deal with a shortfall again.

It wasnt for me, he was asking if I knew anything about it. I said no so he asked me to help him research it. I am quite detailed in my research and i owed him a favor for helping me out of a problem i had dealt with in the past.

@poppapump1332 what would you consider crazy money to be in the range of
