I'm pretty sure they are accepted everywhere and most states like them better as they are common air and can't be adjusted for weight.

I have seen them in the Alberta to Texas corridor but have been told twice of a story where a driver had to remove the jack shafts between the middle and last axle. That way the combination equated to a tandem and lift. Supposedly happened in WA. Guess I should contact each state to be sure. Thanks haulhand.

I definitely would contact the states you want to run. I used to run mine from Wyoming to Texas all the time and as Far East as PA.

I've never heard of any state not allowing them.

I thought Cali didn't allow them. Can't remember where I heard that, but it's in the back of my mind somewhere...
Manitoba used to not allow them unless they were under load. We had one break down and they would t allow it to bobtail into Winnipeg for repairs. Had to tow it both ways, can't understand that one.
"May" not have been the Tri-drive, but the overweight steering axle, I know I used to have a lot of trouble with that a few years back
Other than that, we run them pretty much everywhere else.NoTequilla Thanks this. -
I know that the federal government is mandating that the provinces, under MOU, to come up with regulations for them.

They have... some. Google "Heavy Truck Weight and Dimension Limits for Interprovincial Operations in Canada" You're looking for the December summary. "Tridem Drive Tractor Semitrailer" has been added as category 1A.NoTequilla Thanks this.

Thanks, more in need of US info.

I don't know of anywhere in the US where you can't run tri-drives. I would think most states would prefer them in a way, at least the all equalize across the group.NoTequilla Thanks this.
