and along with that comes a huge truck payment but me personally I'd have have that instead of huge repair bills and headaches.

with swift you have to run 2500 miles to make what a new company driver makes at 2200. Also you got to keep in mind you have to have enough tucked away for unexpected expenses. Warranties do not cover your tires when you hit gator in the road...

I am getting from $1.22 and up per loaded mile. We have a sliding scale for loads. Over 500 then $1.22. I am getting only $.82 for mt, but my mt for over 4 years has been under 5%.Yes, this KW is getting excellent mileage. Example, 43K load out of LA to PHX, I-10 the whole way and mpg was around 7.6, and this truck is not even broke in yet. I have been staying in the high 7 to mid 8's. I also do my best to try and get south and stay south. No NE or NW for me and very little SE. Stay out of the mountains as much as possible. My worst mpg was 6.3 and that was a heavy load out of IA going to Denver and 20-30mph headwinds and crosswinds out of the SSW

Wish I had gotten an aero truck. My buddies old Volvo is getting 7.8 mpg. So peanut butter and jealous.

I'm currently at $1.25 per all miles - loaded and mt to the truck ... and costs are just as an important part of the equation as revenue.

Right now I'm carrying a $570 weekly truck payment. But all my other fixed costs are only $95. I pay no tolls. I pay no plates. I get a lot of freebie consumables, my fuel costs currently stand at $.37 per mile and I've consistently averaged 3K per week when I'm out running for going on 5 years now.

Have you heard of that Schneider IC Choice board for Canada-based drivers?

What nobody has pointed out yet is, is that when your either shut down for weather or repairs, home time or lack of freight, your weekly expenses still continue to add up. So if on your weekly settlement, you owe for a truck/lease pymt plus all the other additional charges, and you don't make enough miles to cover those charges, they carry over until the next week. As an example, a co. driver takes home time, that just means his paycheck is going to be smaller for the upcoming week. An L/O or O/O takes home time, his next settlement will be higher and he will be more in debt for that pay period.

Like with me, when I would have a $780/wk combined bill on my settlement, and would take a week off for hometime, my next settlement would start off being almost $1500 behind. And you'll end up meeting some O/O's that will tell you, "Yeah I just took a week off at the house, and now its going to be 3 weeks until I get a paycheck." And that's a very true statement.

It's just like on your car, apt or whatever else, wether or not you use it, you still owe every month on it.

Yeah its real funny, people not even with Swift are on this board telling you how great their other company is, B.S!

Swift is filled with opportunities, I can attest to that.

I got on whats called a Buy Out truck. It was a used trk with no credit ck, no money down, just sign and drive. I paid off this truck, and when I did, I got a $600/wk raise,, when I didn't no longer have a trk pymt. I now own a trk that has a trade in value, and stand to make a killing driving a trk that has no huge debt hanging over it and me, week after week after week.

Well good luck, if your just starting out in trucking, don't get too hasty in thinking your going to be a lifer, most don't even succeed even in a year of trying this profession.

    don
