One part honey (raw honey) one part lemon juice. Nuke until warm and mix well. Drink straight or add to tea.
That, or plain ole salted tater chips. Both help a sore throat!

Oh good lord, when I first saw that, I thought you were calling Pete "honey." Had me kind of worried there. . .
-
Naw... I don't say honey, that's reserved for my fiancée. ...get it right sweety-pie.

(Relax, I'm funning you!)Big Don Thanks this. -
Alright...this is fun. You'll love this. The machine itself CANNOT determine if you were asleep or not. The exception being if you reach over and smack the knob to turn it off. So essentially, it's one more instance where these people are lying through their teeth.
Now, it IS true that our breathing patterns change from when we are awake to when we sleep. In some it is possible to see the moment you fall asleep. I know my breathing pattern changes slightly because as I fall asleep I tend to hold my breath slightly.
The only viable and accurate way to tell if you're asleep is by using electrodes. Otherwise they are looking at a graph and guessing based upon breathing patterns.
Another fun fact for you, triply so even...
1). People who use cpap for an extended period do form a dependency on the device. While sleeping without won't kill you, the person may find themselves unable to fall asleep and stay asleep without it.
2). What few people do remain compliant for years can have worse heart trouble depending upon when they start. As the body ages and adapts to one's osa, regardless of severity, the blood vessels around the heart grow and thicken to allow extra blood flow. If you start cpap use earlier than age 50, then you have a startlingly lesser chance to survive a heart attack.
3) cpap users often develop central sleep apnea after being put on cpap, the reason is currently unknown and it's a shot in the dark if they will cease with the discontinuation of cpap.
...yeah... This is looking more and more like a career change and class action suit. -
Also have been known to drive down the road with the thing on . Usually at night , so others don't see ya looking like a fighter pilot .
Vilhiem Thanks this. -
I'm going to put my sd card into my laptop when I get home...I want to know what these people are looking at and how exactly they think they can see when I sleep.
...if they seriously cannot tell a difference, then I'm going to start doing that. Most of my runs are 4+ hours, which leaves only home time when I'll probably have to actually use the thing.
That being said... Anyone here that uses PPD as their company to monitor? Don't post here if you drive with the mask on, but do pm me...
I'm back to severely doubting half the claims they make...if not more than half. -
If the SD card shows actual times, not just duration, you may not want to use it while driving as it would be easy to prove (especially on elogs) what you were doing...
Not knowing what can get you in trouble is usually how people get busted. That and being sloppy with the things you know you're doing wrong.
I wouldn't try to game the system 'til you know the rules...how the thing works, what information they see, who has access to that information, and how much additional information they have access to.
For example, if a medical examiner is the only one who can view the machine readout, but they won't have access to your logs, you might get away with it unless you wreck and there are investigators and subpoenas involved. If your company's safety department audits your machine use as well as your logs, you're busted if the machine reports times matching up with your line 3 time. -
Yeah, that's what I'm slowly learning... Admittedly I've been making assumptions up until just recently, but I had wondered if your logs would be compared to your sleep times.
Actual time frame I believe is shown.. Unfortunately, anything less than outright badgering won't let you see your records from the machine.
I know of a program I can use to view them. So that's not as big a deal.
Frankly, some stuff is pretty protected... So the best way to find out about something, versus just asking, sometimes is to make the mistake and see what the results are.
That's how I found out that they look at your breathing patterns to assist in determining if you're awake or asleep.
I'm not wanting to game the system just yet. Barring anything I may do to learn or use to get by that is... In order to show that something isn't working, you've got to play by the rules first. ...that was supposed to have been the month of March, which they said they never got. -

If you're interested in seeing what your CPAP machine records, here's a safe file you can download and install on your computer. It's compatible with most of the major CPAP machines, and will give you everything your machine records.
That being said... My CPAP device DOES record the time of usage. I would imagine most do. So if you drive vampire, or solar, and use your machine then just be aware of that.Big Don Thanks this. -
I would definitely recommend a second opinion. Hopefully nothing major is wrong. I would guess that the machine is not calibrated correctly for you. Did you do your test with a home sleep test or in a lab.If you truly need to be on a pap machine, I think you should remember that it is to save your life. It is not just about driving for a living I believe in eating healthy and getting in 30 minutes of walking a day. Good luck with the doctor on the second opinion and keep us posted.
