45k is the tip of the iceberg. The experience is the most important. Once you you tank a tank, it's very hard to do anything else.

You can do $60K + right out of school at Superior Carriers. I made 52 my first year and that was 8 years ago at 8cpm per mile less than they pay now
They don't hire many students but everyone makes the same there. That sort of sucks for experienced drivers but is great for rookies. -
Thanks Wsyrob, that information sounds encouraging. I have next week off so I can contact them and a few other companies.
Also going to a Schneider's recruiting event on the 23rd. I haven't decided on a school yet, maybe the Schneider recruiter can recommend a good school in the Detroit area. -
1900 was the high end I was trying to reach every week with no luck. I did got a good load 1 week for 2700 miles though throughout the 6 months I worked the bulk division. In my opinion it's not worth it with all that extra works you have to perform on the bulk side. That is why I am moving to the van side.NoPlanB Thanks this.

They don't show a location in S.E. Michigan would that be a problem? Nearest to me looks like N.E. Indiana.

Could be. Not sure what the hiring area is for that terminal. Call them and ask. Trucks don't go home. They are parked at terminals. Check out Carry transport as well. They are the food grade side

Considering joining the Schneider Bulk Division out of Houston, TX. I was wondering what I can expect in the ways of miles and what area I can expect to be running? Also, I heard a rumor that they're going to automatics, is this true?

You will run all 48 and canada if you have a passport. More than likely you will stay east of i35. West coast runs are rare.
Miles are all over the place. I have been getting 2800-3000 but i dont know if ive just been lucky or things are finally picking back up.
All of the new trucks are automatics but you wont see one as a new driver. They might offer you one after a year.
