there is a rehire out here, grass was greener at UPS, but for whatever reason, he came back. Lost seniority, etc. Think and double think about leaving. May not be better in the long run and at least you know what is happening here with the goings on. Like Grabber said, look into the programs to see if you can find better benefits for your situation.
Walmart here I come!

We have two rehires at ours. Both left thinking the grass was greener else where and both are back now. As demi and grabber stated, talk with HR and think about what you can do. Ups was always off my list because I was told it didn't matter how many years driving experience I had, I was going to start as a loader on the line. No thanks.
Line Hauler 101 Thanks this. -
I've never had any issues with our health insurance.
I think there is a certain contingent of folks who always think things are better somewhere else. The only way they learn, is to try. On that subject, I have never heard of UPS hiring a driver that starts as a line driver. They start as a nothing, and have to work their way up over the years. However, as a union employee, I am sure they have better insurance. I just don't know if it is worth the trade-off.TomOfTx and Line Hauler 101 Thank this. -
I left UPS to come to Walmart.
I had a Monday through Friday schedule working 11 hours a day, home every night, off every weekend and holiday, 20 vacation days a year, doing a line haul between Houston and Irving, TX.
When the DOT began implementing CSA more aggressively in 2012, it exposed UPS as a company with serious safety issues. I was also a driver supervisor at UPS and I had 5 drivers terminated for log falsification. The higher ups at UPS management had to go along with the terminations, but privately were telling me to look the other way if I found more drivers violating the law. I would not go alone with this! I told UPS I will resign before I will ignore others violating the law. I made it clear to these managers at UPS I would turn over the audio tape of them telling me to ignore drivers violating the law if they even think of interfering with me seeking employment elsewhere. From here I joined Walmart Transportation.
It is not hard to get a job as a line haul driver with UPS these days. You will start out as a casual driver. Do everything they tell you to do and never say NO, whether legal or not, and you may get hired on full time after your 90 day probation. The commitment to safety is real here at Walmart Transportation, unlike UPS, FedEx and others.Line Hauler 101 and WallyWife Thank this. -

I myself have been Employed with a Union LTL Company. Yes, the Insurance is good, yet we have old Equipment which is poorly maintained. The Mural is Horrible & Extremely Negative. Our Retirement has been cut 75% & continuing to decrease. Im looking very much Forward to starting my New Career with Walmart Transportation.

Never had any claim, accident or incident charged against me. I had one hard break recorded back in May, though my dash cam confirmed a hard break never occurred, but instead the truck hit a bump in the road while braking, which caused the drive axle to hop off the ground enough to lock up a wheel for a split second, thus making it appear as if a hard break occurred.
You may not quite understand why I had 5 drivers terminated at UPS. Every month I audited about 500 logs and filed a report certifying these logs. If I were to ignore the drivers who were violating the law as they were, I could have been liable and faced prosecution. No way I was going to jail for someone else's crime. Each of these drivers were disciplined twice previously and were terminated on their third offense within a year. They deserved to lose their job based on the log falsification they engaged in.
At Walmart, I am a driver only. The only compliance I am responsible for is my own!grabberblue12 and WallyWife Thank this. -
