People drinking and driving killed over 10,000 people in 2013 and those with DUI convictions are complaining about having their professional lives restricted as a result? Driving under the influence is a serious crime as it leads to so many deaths every year and accounts for over 1/3 of all traffic related deaths. Over 59 billion dollars is expenses to the public as a result of those crashes. That is why DUI convicts are treated like murderers.

I am guessing those posting had nothing whatsoever to do with any of those killed in 2013. And, they're asking questions, not complaining.
-
There are tens of organizations, private and public, as well as a whole field of science who would beg to differ with your assessment that DUIs have nothing to do with alcohol-related traffic deaths.
I couldn't get the multi-quote function to work but there are around 5 posts in this thread that are clear complaints/whining. -
Ummm, WHERE did I say that? If you got off your soapbox for a second you'd see I specifically said "those posting here....." but don't let a fact get in the way of your emotion...you're on a roll.

Make it 6 with your last post.
This thread was about entry to Canada after a DUI conviction. I've posted what little I know of the subject since I've never been convicted of DUI.
What I do know is sealed record or not, immigration will see it. Had a buddy with a sealed juvenile record from California over 20 years ago almost denied entry last Christmas on a trip to Toronto for a concert. -
The only way your statement makes any sense is if we focus on semantics and the years of the OP's DUI conviction and the year for which alcohol-related traffic deaths statistics were mentioned. Put aside the years in question. My point is DUI convictions are directly related to alcohol-related traffic deaths and people should not complain about the consequences of those actions. Whether someone is complaining or not is a judgment call. I think people were, you don't. Great.

Straw man argument. Nothing more. Was the OP convicted of a DUI death?
-
I honestly think that the man has been punished enough for a dui that old. Expunge it and be done with it. There was no crash and no loss of life, it was 17 years ago and remember in some states one shot of whiskey can earn you one too, lot easier than you think.
WesternEmpire, Skate-Board and Puppage Thank this. -
To the OP Im in the same boat I drank three beers at a bar in 1998 and got a dui, yes it showed up on background check, but they have no problem with it but plan on having it removed from record and bet your butt next app will state no on dui convection because I paid my dues for that and it will be wiped clean.
Skate-Board Thanks this. -
This is especially true since most states the legal limit is .08 now. One drink puts you over.Skate-Board and DJ Hughes Thank this.
