Nice job landing that one - That's a big money job if you can stick around long enough. For a long time I thought that would be the realistic dream job, but I've kind of realized I don't enjoy line driving that much, not to mention the whole night shift thing, which most of UPS feeders is if I'm not mistaken. There's a reason line driving tends to pay the big bucks...it has to or nobody would do it. You gotta be pretty hardcore to enjoy two-wagon draggin' (or 3) at 3am.
realdesertkickin, Mike2633 and CenutryClass Thank this. -
When do you have to make union by? Oct 31st?

I know this is an old post, but I'm glad to see somewhere that some one got hired off the street as a feeder driver at UPS. Gives me hope that I can do the same thing. I check their site every day for a position.Midwesttrucker Thanks this.

Right now they are hiring seasonals. There is a good chance if you perform well as a seasonal they will hire you full time. Its a tough schedule and your on call but for a chance to get hired in full time it would be worth it. To reiterate i did not work as a seasonal but when they hired the group of us last year it was the first time in 15 years they hired off the street. -
15 years? Wow!!
I don't see them hiring around me. I see a lot of dockworker with CDL positions, but can't really find any information on it. What does that position entail and would it be a good start to become a feeder?Midwesttrucker Thanks this. -
Becoming a feeder driver is the highest paying trucking job at UPS. Feeder Driver positions are posted as tractor trailer drivers. Those are the jobs you want to apply for and get. Feeder drivers are only on the parcel side of the business and top out at $33.00 per hour (takes four years to get) with OT after eight. A lot of times those tractor trailer driver jobs are posted as a seasonal job. Make sure you apply for it. If you get an interview tell the HR rep you want full time. You never know so MAKE SURE YOU ASK!!!. When you apply for the job apply to the larger hubs. Those small hubs have a waiting list a mile long with guys who have been with ups for almost a lifetime. Just give it a shot and apply. This is an old school company so when you go there to interview dress nice, polish you shoes and comb your hair. Don't go in there looking like you just rolled out of the TA. Take out your earrings and cover every tattoo that's visible.Grouch Thanks this.

OK. I was wondering what the job would get posted as. I'll check their site again and keep what you said in mind. Thanks a lot.

I love it when they hire guys off the street. It takes away a job from someone who has worked their 10, 15 plus years waiting for the opportunity for this position. So consider yourself lucky. By the way. Our new health care sucks!
Shaggy Thanks this.
