well. The way I see it is she is unsafe at any speed! period and since you drive a log truck I can see your mentality. got tires got fuel good to go. Drive 90 MPH like a demon out of hell!
Will excessive speeding ticket disqualify from getting CDL?

Clamhammer... I see where you are coming from... but do think your a little over the top...
20 mph over does show a serious lack of good judgment and is immaturity and irresponsible...
however... I am sure she nad to pay a fine and higher insurance rates.... who ever highers her will have to pay higher rates to insure her as well...
With this on her MVR she will have a tougher time getting on at many places but not impossible...
so.. she may have already learned her lesson.. with fines, and higher insurance... and with this on her record for the next 5 years... a lot of companies go back 5 years...
however, to put it into perspective... I am in an ungoverned truck.. so rolling along I29 at 74mph... 4 miles over the posted speed limit.. there were more then a few cars and even trucks who blew by me as if I was rolling along 10 mph below the speed limit...
Obviously, for most people in non professional driving jobs speeding tickets are just an annoyance...
now.. I am not condoning speeding...
but... it does apear that the flow of traffic rolls along much faster then the posted speed limit... so it is hardlh the worst driving sin...
now... for those of us who hold a CDL and drive for a living.. tickets have much higher consequences and can even ost us our jobs... yet.. there are still a lot of drivers willing to risk
It...Cottonmouth85 Thanks this. -

You know... since getting my driver license at age 16... and now I am 50... I have driven over the posted speed limit.. when I was younger it was just immaturity and thrills... Fortunately no accidents
In my young adulthood... it was usually pushing myself to hard.. two jobs, and seemed I onlh ever had just enough time to get there on time if I sped.. again no accidents...
now that I am older and wiser... heehee.. I generally do not speed... although, when I needed to get my brother to the ER when he was having a heart attact.. I did..
Now.. I protect my CDL, my MVR and my job..Ketchikan baby Thanks this. -
I doubt anyone can honestly say they have never driven over the speed limit. It seems that the posted speed limit is just a "basis for punishment" if something happens. Even here in CA, CHP tend to overlook the actual speed for the "maintaining the flow of traffic", but even that is limited to the proverbial 5-7 over.
In my previous life, being with a fire department (and a licensed funeral director), I spent many hours cutting people and bodies out of wrecks. Two things always remained constant, speed kills, and oak trees always win. But the reality is, that 20 over is reckless, no matter what the circumstance! To those of you who have claimed to have gotten these similar driving infractions many years past, and are now running along with CDL in pocket...well times have changed, the rules have changed, the parameters that qualify a driver to possess a CDL have gotten stricter, and a driver's background is more readily available than it was in days of yore.
Since it has been only 3 or so months since this infraction was committed, our OP and his GF will most likely have a very hard time finding a team operation that will allow her to drive as a team member. But that passenger seat doesn't require a CDL to sit in....so happy sightseeing from the passenger side could be her closest thing to being a trucker!BrenYoda883 Thanks this. -

Big Don Thanks this. -
I remember one motorcycle pursuit I was in, (as the cop, not the biker,) where the guy actually did get away. But, I knew who he was, so we had cops waiting for him when he got home. Kind of spoiled his day...Ketchikan baby Thanks this. -
I probably could have got away. It was night, I passed him (unmarked suv) he clocked me at 136 in a 65.... there's no way he could've got my plate or even a vague description of me. Since I stopped right away he knocked it down to 14 over no reflectors and not signaling a lane change. $650 ticket that stuck with me for 3 years.

To the OP, it will be hard to get a good job till it's gone but it's not the end of the world.... it's not like you have a trafficking heroin felony.
I have over a million accident/incident free miles in a commercial truck and a spotless mvr and csa score. One or 2 slip ups does not make a bad driver.... we're only human after all. -
Look at the bright side tho, I hear that the Lot lizard comminuty has openings. Its a really booming buisness with lots of growth prospects.
