Werner kills two on I35 - Austin Tx

Terrible news. Was in Austin at 2:30 am. Electronic signs said major accident. Took alternate route.

Pickup truck was stopped on the highway? How do you expect something like that?

Years ago I nearly hit a car that stopped in the outside lane of I-20 going east through Las Cruces, a man and woman was setting in the car looking at a map. If someone had not warned me on the CB Radio I would have hit them.

Yes, that good ole CB chatter about broken down 4 wheelers seems to be missing in action.

 

The Waze app will notify you of vehicles on shoulder and road hazards also

 

Here's a crazy idea: Pull off the interstate if you are going to stop. I see jersey barriers there, but it looks like they still had a way to the shoulder.

 

I was on I-35 northbound. I saw the wreck right after the sun came up. It looked like a bomb had exploded in the pickup truck. The pickup truck had stopped just on the other side of a small rise on the interstate. The Werner driver never saw the truck until she topped the hill. It was 1:30 am and she swerved but could not avoid the pickup truck. The semi rolled over to the access road. the driver of the semi is a 7 year veteran of Werner. The police still don't know why the truck was stopped in the middle of the interstate.
