I say you're trolling because that's what you're doing. You haven't posted a single thing constructive. Your entire intent seems to be to bash Eagle. Now in the interest of this honesty you're a fan of why don't you post the full unvarnished story of the reason for your bitterness.

I don't work for nor am I leased to Eagle, so Eagle is getting no cover from me. I also have no connection in any way with Celedon or any other "Quality" company. My interest in this thread is mainly curiosity. That said, nothing that's been posted in this thread leads me to think Eagle is any more responsible for failure than the drivers who sign up without at least having a good idea of what's involved.

Not picking on anyone but the new leasee who takes under a buck a mile to get from NC to Casa Grande is a great example of a lack of understanding and preparation. I'll elaborate.

    1. Understand you are no longer an employee, you're a self employed businessperson under contract. You have a business to business relationship with Eagle. Eagle's business is to make money. Your business had better be to make money. If Eagle can get you cover a load for under $1 a mile so they can make CHR happy they haven't done a single thing wrong or even immoral. Had you refused to take the load you wouldn't have been wrong, you'd have been smart. It's not Eagle's job to make YOU money.

    2. Operate your truck for PROFIT not Miles. Miles are for company drivers, profit margins are for business people. Which are you going to be.

    3. Understand the business model Eagle is operating under. Use it to your advantage. Read this thread again and especially read the posts by Rayon. That guy has it going on, he knows exactly how to work the system.

    4. Get signed up for several of the better load boards. Research the going rates from and to different areas. Not just from the approved brokers but all of them. Getting to Casa Grande may have been the ultimate goal but you don't have to do a move in one long shot. Several shorter hops are generally better than one long one in this business.

    5. Research fuel prices in the lane you plan on running. You can sometimes make more money in a slightly lower paying lane just from what you can save at the pump.

    6. Operate your truck for PROFIT not Miles. Miles are for company drivers, profit margins are for business people. Which are you going to be.

For the Record... I OWN my truck. Its NOT a company Lease. MY name is on the title. I purchased it 15 months into a lease purchase. Turned my lease truck in and am now counted in the "failure" statistics for L/P. I love failing this way. :)

You got it. In business everyone is using someone else. Take full advantage of the system.

What I have learn in my 20 plus years in trucking it's a dog eat dog world not like the old days when we would tell a broker to go to hell with there low ball loads coming out of Florida my old home state that I love and miss and just dead head out to ga are sc. And get a load now these guys are running for nothing if we all band together and tell ch tql and the rest of the big broker to go F off am sure we will get the rate we should be getting like the other day I pull a government load the pin head broker did know that the post in there bol what thy are pay for the load to move so the load paid me 500 for 175 miles not bad but he told me he whose all in on the load that he whose not going to make nothing on now 500 rt but the load Pay 750 only 250 in is pocket is not there four he saying he is. Not making nothing on it hell I take the 250 if he don't want it

What are some things I can say to a broker to get the rate up? What are some tricks I should look out for.?

Well for one thing I don't think anyone's trying to to trick anyone really....their trying to sell the rate for as low as possible and your trying to get it for as high as possible...but first U need to decide if u are going too call...I have my ops mgr do it coz that's quick for them and they have no idea where u want to go and use Chr anyways unless u find a load......so here's what I do I have truckersedge with the rate plan...59 and worth every penny! I see where I'm going to be empty as soon as I can lets just say it's phoenix so I look on the load board for many options, find a few and copy them and have your bottom line number ready on those loads and send them to your ops mgr he can call them....it gets way way more complicated but that's the basic

Ok that sounds good. But I'm going to take it a step further. My wife is going to call all the possible loads and try to negotiate the best rates. Then I will pass the same possibles to my ops manager, just to see if there is a difference.

Lee your plan is good and also bad the bad is buy the time your wife gets off the phone and call you and say babe I did a good job and work the hell out of them some one just low ball you and take it know you call your dm and tell him are her the good job your wife now he as to call for the load you want is gone looks it's a dog eat dog ok like monkey know what you want to make it here if your rate is 2$ a mile tell your dm look my lowes rate that now let him are her work it my dm know what I want and were am not going if thy forget tell them a gain stick to don't run low ball loads if you do one your tag yes. Tag as a low ball mover as for me 2$ per ok now thy take there cut now am at 150 per mile that 150 per now 1/2 of it are less is your pay you need to get at less 70 per mile as your pay because out of that 70 cents you will be paying tax if you do let's say 3500 miles per ok you should see about 2400 before tax after tax you may see about 1600 are so give are take read monkey post and now what you can live with then go a it if you run like that run to get you home to get your things you will not make it here . Run hard but run smart the best thing I can tell you is use your wife to hunt down the loads and send them your dm that will put you ahead also you can go an trulos load it's free some loads be an there go to jb hunt .com look at there loads I pull a lot of there also good luck driver
