I agree. I have an after market seat, and do think it doesn't allow me the space the stock would, but the accelerator pedal should still be way more to the right. Not enough space for the ol family jewels.

 

Well bean I've worked on my fair share of them an I like a Pete but I will admit the door mounted mirror setup is not the greatest it traps moisture an catches wind which keeps a load on the door, drove one last week you could stick your fingers through the top gap at 70

 

I've never owned a Classic, but I've driven a couple. I could not believe how rough they rode. I also hated how the passenger side mirror was basically useless. The dash looked cheap. I owned a 2006 Pete 379. Rode like a dream, but it developed water leaks around the horn mounts on the roof of the cab, and their rear sleeper mount design needs a rethink. Aluminum on steel is begging for rust jacking problems. In fact, one of the sleeper mounts on my Pete tore out for exactly that reason. Not a lot of headroom as you move from the cab to the sleeper, and yeah, the space between the seats is pretty tight. Given a choice, I'd take the Pete over the Classic if for no other reason than to give my butt and my back a break.

 

I will find out. My next should be a W9, after all these years of wanting one.

 

Really? I've been screwing up for years. I buy only W9s. Now I gotta sell a bunch of junk! Too soon old / too late smart. Ah well. Sheet happens.

 

little late to the party but in reality not much it is mostly myth and they are technically comparable trucks and a lot of it is personal preference and most is the same as the fact that you can get twice as much for the same wine out of a box if you stick a fancy label on it
Real value vs. perceived value such as the pete rides better when in fact the std pete and frht 4 bag systems are darn near the same system the pete has an excellent suspension that is why freightliner copied it
there are a few things pete would have done well to copy from frht such as they have the best wiring in any truck etc...this could go on and on
but after having owned at least one of about all of them one time or another if I won the lottery I would buy a w9 (best cab constuction ) on a pete 4 bag with rockwell rears and and s60 detroit with a 13spd eaton
I don't see that happening so I think I will just keep running my old classic tell I am done

 

We've got a 96 377 pete, doors still shut nice, new weather striping and they'd be tight. Also had a 96 and 97 fld, slam the doors hard as you can and maybe the latch tight but not likely.

I've sat in a few newer w-9s. Liked the dash layout, but the darn go pedal was so light to the touch seemed like I'd have to use my big toe to be easy on it. And it sits so parallel to the floor. I suppose it takes getting used to

 

Usually drive in house shoes and yeah I use my big toe. Haha

Love the dash layout. Much better than the pre 06 models I've seen. Could do without everything being controlled by a CECU but everything is going that way.

Been a Pete driver my entire career. Never drove a freightliner more than 500 miles. Didn't care for it. Don't like the construction or the layout.

 

I've been An O/O since 1998. I've owned 2 KW's and 3 Petes. I'm currently driving a 2014 389 that I ordered/bought new. KW is waaay better quality. Somewhere out there, my 1993 KW is running around out there with no rattles or squeaks and a cab so air tight that you gotta roll down the window a crack to shut the door. Had a 2007 W9 I recently sold that was the same way. My new Pete has lots of rattles and squeaks and don't even think about a pressure washer at the top of the doors or your gonna get wet. However this thing rides better than my pickup (air ride front end) and is so comfortable that you can drive 700 miles without getting out, if you have an iron blatter. Can't get comfortable in a KW. In my 07 W9, I removed the seat and bolted it further back in the cab to get my legs comfortable......then I was REACHING for the steering wheel and the rocker switches. Comparing a Shaker with a Pete as far as quality might be apples to apples, but comparing a KW to either is apples to oranges. KW is better.
