I am curious about what everyone does in regards to having beer or wine while out on the road. I like a glass of wine or a beer here and there so what do you all do?

Just don't have any in your truck. If you do don't get caught with it. I see no problem with someone having a drink as long as they're shutdown for the night. I know lots of folks are gonna disagree with me.

Only ever have a beer or a few beers if and only if I have the entire next day off. Beer only no hard alcohol.

It's been talked about before. Lots of good threads on it if you search.

For me, the stress of getting hassled out weighs the satisfaction of a couple cold ones at the end of the day.

If I remember right, the rule is no alcohol within 8 hrs of going back on duty (or is it driving?) and you must be at 0.00% 4 hrs before you drive. No alcohol at all IN the truck....

Just starting a 10 and having dinner? By all means, partake in one or two.

It's said that it takes 3 hours for 1 beer to leave your system. But it was also said that if you have 2, it takes 6 hours to leave. That doesn't really make sense to me. Because, if I have two beers, I gotta wizz like nobody's business within 20 minutes! I think maybe I have a bladder problem?

There is no beer or wine on the road...It makes no difference what you like. If you're running, you don't drink, period. If you go home every night and want a cold one...have one.

But if you need to ask the question, I think you like having more than 1. If you are a professional driver, you can skip drinking for a while.

That's a silly attitude. Lot's of OTR drivers need to unwind from time to time, and grabbing a sixer and kicking a few back in your truck on private property is completely legal. Just get a good nights sleep and make sure all the booze and empties are out of the truck when you roll.
