Ive noticed the huge inventory of pro stars available at cheap prices compared to comparable trucks.
Any problems with your truck specd with the ISX motors?
Anyone had good luck with the maxforce, which has its horrible reputation?
    Thanks.

I personally hate the international Pro star. They are so loud. And it seems like every Pro star owner or driver likes to roll around the truck stops at 1500 RPM rapping out the motor and engine fan. Even at high idle with the AC on they are terrible to be parked next too.

I don't own one, but a friend and his brother each have one w/maxforce, my town has 2, and a local company w/100+ trucks used to buy them until it was just too ridiculous. All of these guys can't wait until the warranties run out and they can move on. I have wondered about this resale problem. It's not going to be pretty. I'm talking Maxforce here not ISX.

I got my 11' ISX powered Prostar in May. Immediately did an egr tuneup and forced regen. Pulls like a mule with its tail on fire and gets 7+ mpg pulling a reefer.

On the downside... I swear I'm gonna kill the idiot who signed off on the a/c system. Got it all planned out too. Kidnap him and stick him in a black metal box in Needles, CA till he croaks.

I drove a maxxforce for year and a half, from 230,000 miles to 390,000. Initially I had problems with the egr and dozer, but once fixed it was reasonably reliable. It never left me on the side of the road anyway...

The fan clutch did go bad and lock up once and was replaced under warranty. I hear lots of trucks with locked up fan clutches that don't seem to care...

I would get a maxxforce if the local dealership was good, otherwise I'd need a cummins. I think the later version maxxforce has gotten a bad rap (2011-2013)

I have a 2011 Prostar w/ Maxforce 13. Bought with 109,000 miles on it and had egr problems right away. After taking care of that have gotten along real good until just recently the defrost setting on the heater quit working. It will still blow out of the dash and on the floor but cannot get heat to the windshield. Live in Iowa and this is an important feature in wintertime. Could anyone shed some light on how to fix this.
    Thanks, New Grandpa
