What state do you live in?
This suggestion is at the other end of the spectrum, but sometimes other struggling drivers have used it.
Consider applying to a trucking company with their own CDL program. They will hire you with only the permit. Some drivers do this in your situation and then are fast tracked since they already have formal schooling behind them.
Is this something you will consider? If so, then contact Earl Henderson Trucking and ask if they will continue training you. Won't cost you anything and they furnish a private hotel room and 3 meals a day.
There's others also.
Depends on your financial situation if you can hold out to keep retesting.
Knight Transportation is big in your area and they can help, plus pay a weekly salary while getting you road qualified and licensed; something like $400.00 or more a week while training you. Their dry van division is good.
All this is just an option, depending on your situation.Last edited: Jul 28, 2015

Chinatown Thanks this.

I'm just curious why you wouldn't start out in first ?
TripleSix Thanks this. -
I'm curious how you stall in 3rd gear with an empty? My foot can slip off the clutch and as long as I'm not on the brakes it won't stall in 3rd
george stanley and Mudguppy Thank this. -
Like is there any drawbacks to starting out in that low of a gear 1-2 in a ten speed will this prevent me from stalling if i release the clutch to fast ? -
I think that maybe why its stalling out on you . I would start ouy in first gear not bull low but first. Just wondering who suggested starting in third gear?
-
I guess everyone is different but I always start out in first. The higher the gear you start out in the greater chance you have of stalling out.
-
You really have to ride the clutch its not like a cars clutch.
-
1st gear is low on a 10 speed. Are you sure you're all the way off the brakes before you dump the clutch? Unless the truck is completely gutted I can't see any way to stall in 3rd with an empty. By all means if it helps you start as low as you need, only downside is that much more possibility of a missed shift on the way up.
If you're holding pretty strong on the brakes while you're stopped concentrate on letting up on them a bit earlier, just like it takes a second for them to kick in it takes a second for trailer brakes to release. I'm honestly betting on trying to pull away with brakes still engagedRedTheTrucker Thanks this.
