Day one down. Safety gear issued a little book work tonight and yard training starts tomorrow. Even if you have boots i reccomend getting the sni approved boots at 35 bucks. They are selling them at a loss of you compair them to retail pricing .

And now the fun begins. We begin slow maneuvering today along with road driving. So we all get to see eachothers skill levels. In the classroom we all are the same. But behind the wheel thats another story.

Played with the simulator on shifting. And without any feed back its hard to do with just the gauges, no screen or anything. They were attempting to see how we do shifting. I blew on the sim. Immidiately after got in the truck for road driving and did just fine. Need to practice skip shifting and doubling down so i dont have to think as much but. On the road is still better than the sim.

Thanks Jburton for keeping us posted on your progress, how long do you anticipate being there? I'm leaving Sunday morning it's approximately a 5.5 hour drive from where I live near Corpus Christi, Texas. I'm going in a rental car, supposedly, the bus ride takes approximately 10 hours to get there, geezzz!!! But anyways, borrowing any delays, I should be there around 1300 hrs.

More yard time. Backing and slow maneuvers. I also passed my road test today. That much closer to going out with my TE.
Alexx i should be here thru the week and going out with my TE as early as sunday and then back the following week. So if you get thru your first week on schedule we will pass by possibly at the hotel. Are you staying at the comfort inn? If your driving rush hour here starts about 430 and goes to 6 maybe later depending on accidents. Bring a back pack to lug your stuff and logs around and i highly reccomend a boonie hat and or a cool wrap it is super hot on that tarmac in the yard.

JBurton, thanks for the update, initially I was going to go in this coming Monday 03, 2015, that was before I received a call today from my recruiter stating that he had made a mistake and since initially I was going to go into the bulk division, they typically start their orientation on Mondays but since I changed to Regional he wasn't aware of them starting on Tuesdays. He told me that they don't do drug screens on site anymore or something to that effect, so tomorrow I'm headed to go get my drug screen in Corpus Christi, Texas. Needless to say, I won't be making it in this week, I'm now starting on August 11, 2015. Yes I'm planning on staying there @ the Comfort Inn, I just bought a fishing hat because they warned me that I was going to be outside in Houston for a week, I had one of those cool towels I used to use in the oilfields, good idea with the back pack, thanks a lot for all of the useful information, unfortunately, you might already be gone with your TE by the time I arrive. Keep me posted, hopefully I'll meet up with you either @ the hotel or @ the yard.

Yea they dont drug test here they do a urine test for protiens and sugars. If you want the provided breakfast i def reccomend getting down there early as there are a ton of people here. The bus leaves at 630 on the nose, so be ready when it gets there. Most of the instructors are easy going there are a few gruff hard ### types but listen to what they are saying. They want you to pass as much as we want to pass. The lunches at the oc are pretty decent. I recommend the burgers.
