Slow freight - what to tell the new guys?

    Hey guys.

    Anyone else experiencing downtime/slow period due to the current status of freight? Now, the big boys might be an exception (who knows) but what would you tell the new guys that don't know any better?

    I myself am currently feeling it - but it might because I am doing containers. However, I do have several other friends who are doing dryvan & reefer and they said the rates are absolutely ridiculous and the loadboard isnt what it was a year ago. You'd figure.. holidays, school is right around the corner and things might pickup but that isnt the case... yikes!!!

    Where you at? Was slow around 4th of July, after that thing got back to normal for us.

    Booked up a week in advance-got freight waiting for me on the docks.

    I'm at sni, I know otr guys have been running slower but it's also affecting dedicated lines too.

    Past month or so I've had more downtime than I care to admit. But I've enjoyed it. I'm giving it a month and a half for me and I'll pick up.

    It is very slow compared to last year. It hasnt been good for us all year long. Im hoping second half of the year is better

    There's always cheap freight and some like hualing it I guess. Its slowed a little but several factors oil,corn,Chinese steel prices then throw in guberment regs that are coming makes markets uneasy nobody wants to warehouse products in case it goes south.

    But then they want JIT freight at low bids, only excuse, fuels cheap. Not that cheap!

    im with Schneider the board has loads but much more planning involved than last year this time especially. im getting by but not ahead. im with KS trans... tell em hold out for a better time or pinch pennies because things are a little weak right now.
