I had my cruise set at 75 in Wyoming one hand on the wheel one hand on my phone playing wit pandora. And bang Loud bang and the truck shot to the left I was like #### it steer tire. I stopped asap walked around wasn't the steer tire.. it was the driver steer air bag... with that much jerk to the left with just the air bag blowing out I could only imagine blowing a steer. And someone like this company op posted probably a rookie it was ditch or ditch.

Exactly what I was thinking. I doubt he was fully alert , i had a blown michelin !!steer tire before at 70mph older truck and a whole more traffic than that , i was able to handle it better than expected . Of course I accelerated a bit to control the truck and gradually came to a stop very controllable, I know if it was a curve couldve been a different story though.this video Makes you think what wouldve happened had the other steer tire went.

Someone just posted another, view is from truck behind truck that blew steer...He didn't fare so well, horrible crash...Couldn't find link, maybe someone else can..

YESTERDAY just down the street from me, a northbound truck blew a tire(not sure which), crossed the median and struck a southbound car killing the driver...Happened right in front of the southbound scale in Elizabethtown, KY, just south of 91mm...The exiting lane from the scale is in view at top....

When I was 16 years old, my dad put me in the drivers seat of his '74 Peterbilt for my first time driving on a highway (62 between Vidal Junction and Parker). I thought I was king super trucker, 10 minutes into my first maiden voyage, my dad dove on the steering wheel before I had a clue what he was doing he yelled DO NOT TOUCH THE BRAKES! I few seconds later we were in the desert with the front bumper jammed under the rear tires. I had no idea what had happened, he heard the air let go and felt the truck dive to the right we were both holding the wheel with all we had and couldn't hold it on the road.

Picked up a vibration the other night. Concerned it was the steer going, I pulled off to check. Tire was fine. Vibration went away.

Is there ANY warning when a steer is going? Besides visual inspection, temperature & pressure measurement?

I've had recaps blow on personal vehicals.. no signs at all. Almost brand new.. won't do it anymore it's virgin or used virgin. . No more recaps

I've had recaps blow or peel on a trailer. . The company I'm with won't use recaps on a tractor

There's strict laws in place about steer tires. Can't recite what they are maybe someone else can.
