Is there any way that I type in someone's name to bring it up? The reason I ask is because I was in orientation with a guy this week and we realized we were both on the same site. He told me what he goes by on here and I can't remember his whole screen name I know some of it.

Start by using @ and starr the name. Like @popcorn169 it will finish it for you.

That may be your problem right there. I've got a tablet with 8.1 on it, and I HATE IT! It is constantly locking up on me. Nor am I a fan of IE. But that was what the tablet came with. I tried to put Mozilla on there, and got messages that "drive is full."
I screwed with this darn thing for over a month, then went out and bought an Android tablet. Don't much like it either, but it works for what I want it for.
The one with windows on it, has been relegated to a "gamer" for my wife.

well, it's the way the pc came (8.1). I have reserved a free download of Windows 10, and when ever it is ready to be downloaded, they will notify me.

on my other pc, I had google chrome...man o' mighty, was that biotch SLOW to shut down for the day/night. Google Chrome takes up way too much memory. and I find google chrome to be too intrusive into my surfing habits and such.

which I why I want to stay with IE.

I do not like Opera, Firefox, Mozilla, Safari..
each one claims to be fast, and everything else under the sun, but they are all resource hogs for memory and intrusive. IE is no cake walk, but stick with it for a while.

I grabbed that Windows 10 the first day it was available. Went through the whole download process, (really not very painful,) and THEN discovered that it screwed with some of my programs. Badly.
After doing the research, (that I should have done FIRST) I learn from Dell that my particular PC "has not been tested for Windows 10, and some programs may not work well."
So I went back to Windows 7, at least for now, (which was also relatively painless.)

well for me, windows 10 is compatible, so as soon as it is ready for me to download, i will

as for the freezing issue, i just begrudgingly downloaded and installed Google Chrome.

it is way faster than IE, and i am not getting any freeze ups. i tried disabling the add-ons in IE, but to no avail.

i wanted so much to avoid Google Chrome, due to it's intrusive nature and being a resource hog.

    oh well.....

I also discovered that my anti virus had been disabled during this mess. Tried to repair it, no good. Finally just took it off completely, then reloaded it. Working good now. I agree with you about Chrome. Google is getting to be much worse than IE ever was, and that is saying a bit.
My Android tablet came with chrome on it, and so far, I've been to busy, (read that lazy?) to do anything about it. But it is on my list of projects. . .
