935 trucking companies? Thats quite alot, must be companies that have 1-10 trucks. I'm waiting for CR England and Central Refrigerated to combine hands, or Interstate and Gordon to get together.
-
Who is this World Communist Senator you're talking about? Americans would like to know.

*&%7 couldn't you have asked that when I posted it ? Now I'm going to have to dig for the article..(if anyone printed it)...but I'll get back to you.

I believe the statistic I heard was over 500 companies with 5 or more trucks out of business in the first quarter of '08, which means there's at leasy 2500 trucks off the road--very likely much more, 10k or greater would be my guess.

Well in the end, this #### recession will put us all out on our butts if our government cant find a way to get it turned around soon.. I cant blame any companies for going out of business with the cost of living what it is, then the expense of a shop, office, trucks, fuel, upkeep up vehicles and such its just hard.. Regardless of anything else all we can do is keep to our work and hope this all works out and not to many families get effected to bad when the providers are out of work..

Hundreds if not thousands, will close because of this.. And you can bet CO like Swift, Schneider, Werner Stevens, JB Hunt will not close for sure..
My theory is that the worse the company treat their drivers the more likely they will be around longer.
New hires save thousands a year in lower pay and slow trucks are more readily excepted by a new driver who is to scared to go over 60 anyway.
The only thing that would hurt is their susceptibility to hitting things with their truck and causing higher insurance rates. Hiring foreigner with clean DMV rap sheets might help also. -
Central would combine with Swift if they had any trouble.
-
Interstate and Gordon to get together.
When Americans have no more money and have to use towels instead of TP and paper towels to wipe. Both those companies will be hurting for sure.
I can just see those green and baby blue trucks now. -
y are new drivers scared to go over 60 mph? i was a lease op and was gov at 75 but i made them turn it down to 65 not cause i was scared to drive over 65 cause i made more money going slow i am sure if u put a newbie in a truck that could go 75 they would be going 75 everywhere they could get away with it
