Stevens seems like a very well run outfit. I had the good fortune of having one of y'all's drivers watch my back while delivering to Melba Utica up in Brooklyn. Very helpful dude.

Stevens!!!

Wow, the Aviary has been quiet for a month. The end of an era!

I am really saddened that Stevens drivers don't post here anymore because they prefer to go to their private Facebook page. I check here almost every day to no avail. I left here in 2011, but will always remember them as the company that picked me up when others said I was too old and to set in my Class B tanker to actually go OTR. I saw more of this wonderful country in 5 months than I did in 57 years of life. Just hit 64, and if my dam* doc would give me the OK, I'd do it again with Stevens as a part of my bucket list. Thanks for checking in KMac!
SHOJim Thanks this. -
Yeah, not much action here.
The alliance lease program -prealliance, business class, info from the people is top class. May be able to get on a dedicated route with Purdue to improve my home chances to a mid Atlantic state.
Truck stop talk would make you think that Stevens get paid amongst the worst. I've talked with people who have gotten 400k + miles in two years. My cdl class buddies that graduated in mid march. Some are netting 4800 a month.
I struggle with transition to a years worth of trucking life. Just see it as the best opportunity going and something I have done well for 3 months now.SHOJim Thanks this. -
Am a solo driver and alliance. I make stevens work for me I do a lot of the leg work. I call shippers and receivers. Get my app times moved up to fit my needs (when the shipper/reciever will do so otherwise I get to finally relax) I look not one or two days ahead but at least a week ahead to see if a load will work for me or if I need to ask for a repower. I am clearing $1200 average a week. After all my paybacks I also run 610 to 652 a day. I have done way better than anyone else from my class that's stil here. I was talking to a team and they said they were only getting around $1000 a week. I guess they are not calling and doing the leg work. I like to question every load and see what are my next load options when I'm empty if it puts me in a place that has no freight but has good miles I run the heck out of it and repower. I also watch repowers and don't take every load some of then just are a bad wrap and got that way by a lazy driver that only drives 500 a day and shuts down. It is possible to make money here but you have to work to get your money some times. Of course that should be a duh statement but to many drivers don't want to work they just want to drive the bare min and then complain. It's a job yes you work. I say this is the hardest laziest job I know. I know I can do better but just started a few mo ago. Learning how to play the game.
Yall be safe and drive onflight number 919, TLeaHeart and fieldchaser Thank this. -

Personally, I am one of those who will only drive 500 a day when I can get away with it, I made plenty of money at Stevens without killing myself. The secret is to be proactive, call those receivers and deliver early whenever possible, and it helps if you have a good DM too. I actually had to tell them to let me rest a few times.

Lol I don't kill my self driving so much. I guess my prior job trained me. I am thinking about training but I'm worried I was scared a few times by the ( ok I'll be nice) wonderful class of people in the school. And that's still the ones that passed off to go out. That and I love my truck by myself I don't wanna share my space. . And yeah I got that same responce talking to people"well that's what I do and still don't get miles" when I tell them what workes for me. I don't get it. Maybe they have a piss poor attitude when they talk to people. I respect everyone I talk to try not to act like I think they are dumb even when they tell me it will be ok to only get 1200 miles in a week. (Had a load that Delivered in 7 days with only 1200 miles and the dispatcher told me to just take an easy drive ) yeah right. So I don't know. I do know what works for me and use it.
