I live in Nashville Tennessee and was wondering how much an hour drivers make at excavations and construction companies hauling heavy equipment to jobsites?

Transport National in Jasper, TN may be able to answer that question.

In Ca. they make about $15-$18 /hr with very long hrs. Many times, gotta' deliver the equipment very early, then pick it up late at the end of the day to deliver somewhere else the following day. Don't know about Tn.Radar615 Thanks this. -
Thank you. I would think 18 or more considering .

Remember Tn. is a right to work state.. So wages may be cheap, unless they are working a fed. road project where they have pay certain wage by the guidelines

Drivers often get shafted at Davis Bacon sites, though, unless they're part of a mobile crew and have to stay in hotels near the site.

You might think so, but reality tells a different story. It all depends on the job market as well as the cost of living where you are. But a lot of non-union local companies think that because A) you're home every night [eventually], and B) you work God-awful hours, thereby getting a lot of OT [whether you actually want it or not], that you are getting paid "well"..... My boss is a perfect example- I take home well over a grand a week, but I work anywhere from 55-75 hours to do so.... So it certainly isn't because I get paid a lot hourly.
But that's what the market around here pays....Radar615 Thanks this. -
Up until 4 months ago I worked for what used to be one of the biggest const companies in the southeast. I was there 10 years and when I left was making $18.45 hr. I hauled most of the equipment and drive dump truck but also operated on-site everything as well. Over the years we tried hiring lowboy drivers and they started around $14-$15 hr depending on experience. The downside to hauling like that is it's construction so it's seasonal and hours depend on weather. The money is great when it's busy but you starve in the winter or bad weather. The plus side was when everyone is done for the day the lowboy driver has to get everything moved for the next day. I can remember times where the crews were only getting30 or so hrs and I was getting 60 or more. I think hauling equipment for rental companies is pretty good. Those drivers all seem happy and around chattanooga I don't really see a high turnover rate.
