James J. Williams has a terminal in Kent that's only 19 miles away.

Hey all! I'm a newbie to the trucking world and honestly, I don't have clue about anything that has to do with actually trucking work. I start August 17th at Great Lakes Truck Driving School for training for my CDL/Heavy Equipment. My personal situation is that I adopted my 14 year old brother that's going into high school, I also live with my boyfriend. Right now my bf works 3rd shift and brother is on summer break from school. Once I graduate, my boyfriend is changing careers (he has a degree in politics that could put him all over the state for who knows how many hours/days/weeks so I need to be there as much as I can for my brother. I came into this industry expecting 50 hour work weeks/10 hour days but my question is.. what would be a good thing to get into? I'm pretty much down to do whatever as long as it pays and I have time with my bro to see that he graduates with good enough grades so he can get into college. Thanks in advance for any input! :D

P.S. My dream is to one day drive a CAT CT660. Don't know how far off from reality I am but it looks awesome! I could definitely see myself in that!

Im also new so forgive me, but from what I've learned on here so far, the only way your going to get that kind of work week is with a local delivery job, which will require you actually unloading and stuff not just driving, most of times these companies want experience first.

The companies that don't want experience, are usually over the road or regional companies, which you would get home a few days a week, with a really good gig, its usually home once every 3 weeks or so.

So with that all being said and you needed to look after your bro I would say look into another industry.

    MissShawna Thanks this.

Flohawks? From the little I have heard, that's supposed to be a good company to work for.
