Only way to get an answer is ask your DMV how old of a background screen they'll accept to add the endorsement. Sucks for you guys in states where your DMV's can't do that stuff for you. When TSA clears you they tell DMV electronically that your ok to give the endorsement to, technically it should be there waiting for you in either case BUT double check.

If your were considering a TWIC at any point that may be a better way to go, that way you do your TSA thing, you'd get the TWIC by the time you left or had it in the mailbox waiting for and then you could just recycle your TWIC background check for the HME. Only thing with that is if you use the TWIC's background check for a HME, your HME endorsement will be the same as TWIC, so you'd probably loose a couple months vs the full time but really not a big deal.

 

You should get all this done the same day.I called the Iowa DOT filled out an application over the pnone they gave me a reference number which the place you do your fingerprints looks it up.Anyway I did that then did my hazmat test then another place to get finger printed which here cost 86.50.But first they look up your hazmat test score to make sure you passed and look up your reference number.Then you get finger printed.Then just wait for the results.It only took 9 days to get mine back.Then you take the TSA paper to the dmv along with your med card and ssn card or birth certificate.

Wow... when I drove for werner they assigned me a white volvo... wasnt a bad truck... they have a lot of them and assign them to all sorts of drivers...
I had to turn in the volvo and got assigned a Freightliner... a black one...
