Not exactly.. how much deadhead you do again is up to the driver.
Unless we knew the average deadhead miles also we'll never really know.
It's difficult to figure and base averages as some guidelines because there's a million and one different ways you can run.
changes you'd like to see to the Choice program.

I read somewhere the industry average is 20% DH.
-
So you add that 20% or even the 10% SNI suggests for trip planning. That should get you a better actual load miles. DH is too difficult to factor imo.
-
Here are my last 3 years of dead head.
(2013) I ran 48164 mi.. 8264 DH = 17%
(2014) I ran 84067 mil.. 12594 DH = 15%
(2015) I ran 42766 mi.. 6971 DH = 16%
Yeah i would say its kinda hard to compare DH. When i get home im going to look back 5 years to see where i stand on DH. But, that 1.67 mi could be misleading to some people. Some people dont know the diffrence between loaded mi and actual mi. Loaded miles dont mean Jack to me.FatDaddy, LifeSucksThenYouDie, PoleCrusher and 3 others Thank this. -
If we use your 16 percent dh miles, it drops their average to $1.44 / mile. So that would be a more accurate number.
-
The actual live miles is usually more than what they list as live miles, guessing 5 or so percent.
LifeSucksThenYouDie Thanks this. -
There's drivers piling on shorter loads averaging above $2+ all miles..
There's drivers what live in the middle of nowhere and deadhead tons to get a load.
It just depends.. there's endless possibility. -
I know. I'm just playing with numbers.
-
That would take it down to $1.37. I guess it's going to be Alpo for dinner.
-
I think my rpm last week was 1.36 ( my lowest ever and also my choice.) For all miles with less than 2 miles Dh total.
I ran alot of easy miles and will still end up with about 1500 to me or my bank.
That's after all expenses except taxes so even cheap you can still earn a decent check.drvrtech77 and LifeSucksThenYouDie Thank this.
