    Anybody drives car carriers?

I hear lot of complains about it as people complain on scratches, trailer often breaks down, lot of work. Good pay but lot of stops and no mile time.

    any insights?

Yeah, I drove for Beartooth, and URS for about 6 yrs combined.
Car haulers get to replace windows when dumb freight haulers jump back in front of the car hauler (to close) on sanded mountain passes. Car lots, POV owners, and car rental companies are constantly trying to get free paint jobs at drivers expense.
My solution to the problem? Every inspection sheet shows a scratch and dent over every ###### square inch of the load! For new cars I was honest!
Never made under 50k and mostly over 70k. Home time was rare, but when I did get home I would take at least a week off.
That was OTR, there are regional and local jobs out there too!

Pulled mostly Cotrell trlrs, rarely anything over 3 yrs old including the tractor. This was the late 90's so Im sure there are probably new tech ideas ##### things up just like everything else.
You should post in the car hauler forum, there are some great drivers in there who are actually dealing with the modern "improved" equipment. ;)

Your probably mostly seeing new drivers getting trained, although there are some teams. You likely wont see teams doing POV's (private vehicles) very much though. POV's always paid real good and probably are the multi drops you heard guys whining about. Nobody whines about the money though, lol.

They train you to get your CDL?? I believe they are training experienced drivers how to haul cars.
