I am looking to start CDL school in October I will be going to a local community college. The question I have is in 2008 I was arrested for "attempt to obtain controlled substance by fraud" Which is a felony charge, basicly what it is I altered a prescription. It was one of the worse things I could have ever done and did not realize the ramifications at the time. After that I went to college for a few years and did not work at the time. I tried looking for several jobs but with the felony deferred adjudication showing on the background check it was difficult to get hired at many places. So I got into the cab business and have been there for the last 5 years. I've managed to get 2 cabs and pay them off completely. One of the cabs I lease and one I drive. However since uber has decimated the cab industry I am looking to get into driving a truck. I want to company drive for schneider than later move into the Choice program. Will I have issues getting on with schneider? I have talked with a recruiter, but they said they have to look at each situation case by case and she told me to call back once I started CDL school.

Even if Schneider decides not to hire you, many other companies will.

Why not turn your cabs into uber cars? Unless they're under 2004 then I understand

Edit: by that I mean if you still want to stay in that line of work.

If not then this industry is always looking for drivers, just gotta look harder and call around

Cabs are $2.20 a mile, uber is $1.10 a mile here. $2.20 a mile works, $1.10 a Mile does not work, most uber drivers think it is great etc. Because they have not done it long enough to realise the true cost of doing business. But there is an endless supply of drivers who can use their own cars. So 3 minths after the first set of drivers realise $1.10 is crap and leave there is a set of drivers right behind them to replace the 1st set.
