It's been a while sense I dropped by here. Back in April to be in FACT.
Everyone here that knows me, knows I was VALID and stood strong with the rest of the protesters and leaders on protests during our last shut down.

    Now,
What we all did in the first week in April was not in vein. The MANY of thousands of drivers and O/Os, and small Carriers that shutdown that week?
THANK YOU! You're work was gifted and was felt for weeks after.
The PORT system around our country got hit the hardest.

When the strike was in full swing I was in front of the computer doing some NETWORKING. Trying to get in contact with those people that was LEADING the protests and CONVOYS, and Shutdowns around our Nation.
And I created what I call the white list.

I was able to speak with MANY people around the nation that where backed by hundreds of protesting drivers. I continued to tell them they where doing GREAT. Which they where!

For the whole WEEK from DAYLIGHT to DARK I was in the office on the phone doing reports, and talking to O/Os and drivers rounding up a crew or a NETWORK of good PEOPLE wishing to make a change to our industry.

    AS FOR NOW,
I chose to voluntarily step up to the plate to represent the thousands of TRUCK owners, Company drivers and small Carriers here in my home state.
This is a honor and a privilege for me to say that.

WITH OUT us O/Os and Drivers?
YOU would be HUNGRY and Naked!
We literally bring everything that one can think of to the stores and the cross docks that many people do not see. But WE DO.

I am here to call the many OHIO drivers that I have not yet had the privilege to speak with and tell him what we are doing under the Network name we are all calling " OWNER OPERATORS UNITED ".

We are fighting for our very survival in todays industry. The freight rates are going up SLOWLY, but we are loosing small carriers faster than the rates are going up.

I will do anything in my power to put ANY DRIVER, Company or O/O in touch with good people willing to help them and not hurt them.
Those people and Companies do still exist.

I am only 1 REP for the state of OHIO. We now have DRIVER representation in 34 other states. Those REPS are O/O's and Small Carrier OWNERS.
We have been in touch with CONGRESS, and we have also taken our issues to our individual STATE representation.

We HAVE had enough, WE are tired of the BS lies from many brokers and also our own government. I am SEEKING other people from MY home state thats got a desire to be part of a LARGE family network of GOOD, helpful people.

If you are NOT from my home state? PM me and I can and will put you in touch with others like yourself who are swimming to survive.

If your state does not have Driver Representation?
YOU can take the HONOR like myself and represent those drivers.
Trust me, they will respect you with MORE honor than you think in doing such a thing.

This is NOT a FT job, Its a LIFETIME awaiting a good candidate to fill a position that only a DRIVER, Carrier OWNER, or a O/O can fill.
That is the only REQUIREMENT. YOU MUST HOLD A VALID CDL, OR BE A RETIRED DRIVER.

If ANYONE is interested PLEASE let me know.

OUR FIGHT for our rights, and our Independence is FAR, FAR from over!

    All the best,
    OverTime / Matthew

Am I calling for a MASS SHUTDOWN AGAIN?

    YES, I AM!

The LARGER Carriers are hurting now and JEVIC was proof of that.
    SHIPPERS, RECEIVERS, BROKERS,
The DAYS of us HAULING CHEAP freight are OVER.
Before many of my Ohio drivers hook to a load needs to pay both the TRUCK and the driver. If the RATES not right? HE WILL LEAVE IT ON YOUR DOCK! We would rather you break the Larger Company than take food from our FAMILY'S Table!

You WILL pay us a fair rate one day. For those Carriers that you hired to haul CHEAP LOADS or cut our throats? They my friend will be LONG GONE! With your HELP - Thank YOU

    Matthew,
Somehow just let the rest of the folk know what's up. I believe a good number from the general public will also support you.

Thats ok, He's "POSSIBLY" the type of person that would undercut your freight rates just to have a load to haul. These type of people will go BROKE.

I said "POSSIBLY". I didnt say he was.

Its time we start helping one another, and sticking up for what is RIGHT, FAIR and JUST.

Sorry to be fighting for what I believe in.

And you are POSSIBLY an idiot who has no idea what he is talking about too.

I said "POSSIBLY". I didn't say you were.

Why on earth would I want to help my competition? I hope they go out of business. More freight for me.

What is "right, fair, and just" is to allow capitalism to work, and let those who are incapable of operating at a profit to fail. There is no justification in propping up the lowest common denominator of the industry. Fools are fools, and poor businesspeople are poor businesspeople, no matter what you attempt to do to "save" them.

But, to go back to my original post, I meant everything that I stated in there. Congress doesn't set the freight rates, so whining to them serves no purpose. Shutting down for one day serves no purpose, because it doesn't actually impact anything (just as it made no difference whatsoever on April 1st). Propaganda, like your little picture of the Declaration of Independence serves no purpose when it makes you look like an idiot (come on, use a friggin spell check already).

BTW, what does Lincoln have to do with the Declaration of Independence? What does a coal miner have to do with trucking rates?:biggrin_25523:

There's really no need for name calling. There are other forums on the internet for this kind of behavior. Please keep it clean and state your point. The cartoon was cute, but didn't tell any of us what your solution to OUR problems. Please tell me that you don't seriously want the rest of us to go out of buisness. You can't honestly be that heartless.

I didn't call anyone names. I speculated on the mental capacity of the OP, just as he speculated on the rates I haul for.:biggrin_25523:

Why on earth would I want to solve your problems? For every 10 O/O's that go out of business, there are hundreds of O/O's that manage to turn a profit. I prefer to be one of those that stays profitable on my own, and will continue to chastise those who strive to keep those carriers in business who can't maintain a decent profit level on their own.

When push comes to shove, there are too many carriers in the marketplace, and the only logical solution is to weed out those carriers who haul at less than desirable rates. Propping up those on the low end of the totem pole does nothing but continue to keep the supply of carriers too high, thereby keeping rates down. People like the OP and the groups he represents are part of the problem, not part of the solution.

In the past few months, I've personally seen rates increasing quite a bit. If more carriers continue to go out of business, rates should get to a comfortable level for the rest of the industry that manages to stay afloat. I'll be there to haul that nice paying freight.:biggrin_25525:

I used this analogy back on April 1st, and will use it again. If McDonalds suddenly found that nobody wanted to buy their Big Mac, do you honestly think that Burger King would stop selling the Whopper to support them? Do you think Wendy's would shut down in protest? Do you think KFC would petition Congress to do something about it?

You have to realize that even if every other owner op went out of buisness, the companies out there would pick up the slack of hauling the cheap freight, and you would be out of buisness. Why you ask? Because you would be demanding top dollar and the shippers would laugh at you. I have tried to understand the people on here that display the "I'm great and screw ya if your not" attitude, and I just can't. There are some out there that don't deserve to be running any kind of buisness, I'll give you that, but, there are others who are trying to make it and may have fallen on hard times outside of their controll. I just believe that it's going to take more "we" people to make this work, and a few less "I" people.
